The sun finally came out today. Took this shot of my daughter in a wooded park. Used scn, portrait, flash and adjusted the contrast just a touch. Let me know how to make this better.

Hi Teresa,

You have a nice portrait here of your daughter. One of the easiest ways to improve it would be to not have such a bright background competing for attention with your daughter. You might also notice that the portrait flash has filled in any contour of her face making her look a little flat. The one great thing about young girls is that they have such smooth faces. Having a light source from the side would give more drama to the shot without being too harsh. Something to try next time out.

Regards,
AVB

Nice image. I just warmed it up a bit as I think even the fill flash tends to lean towards a colder-flatter image overall.

I also used a soft focus action to blend the skin tones a bit more.

Keep up the good work.

I like this!

It's actually called Soft Focus. Not sure if I got it from the Adobe Site or who made it, but if you like, I can email it to you. Just drop me a message at pdqgp at yahoo.com. It's small of course.

Nice as it creates the effect on a totally seperate layer...usually overly-soft, but then you can erase what is not needed, clean up the eyes, etc...and blend it for a much softer-subtle effect.

You could always edit the action, but I've left it as is and like the results.

What action did you use, Tim?
