Do any dealers in the USA sell cameras , like CANON G3,to AUSTRALIAN residents & if so what are the problems ? I accept that warranties may not apply & their may be reluctance to accept VISA cards without some ID verification but is anyone out there doing business ?

Buydig.com will export to Australia but it is not econonomically feasible. They only ship using Fed Express and the shipping charged to Australia are exaubitant. Like $150 US for shipping!!!

The only way you can do it is if you are lucky enough to have a friend in the states, is to have them buy it for you and mail it to Australia for you. Although make sure you have them mail it to you and not use a courier as you will pay an extra $50 in import duties when using a courier. Normal import duties are 10%.

Have you tried doing a search on E-bay? That's where I found my 7i. I managed to find one located in Sydney, and collected it for cash. Do a "located in Australia" as well as "available to Australia" search.

I dont know about Canon, but the situation with Minolta is that USA warranty only applies there, (plus, I think a couple of other locales e.g. Canada maybe?). Others here will be able to give you more clues on that though.

What I do know is that (again Minolta) products bought from Singapore and Hong Kong have international warranty applicable to OZ.

I think you would be letting yourself down not to get a warranted product.
