Favourite Flower Shot-September 2010 - Part II

Dear Leo,

This is my sentiment exactly. I still photograph using Tri-X and my old Leica from time to time. Not to mention that I was looking around to find a best approximation of a software PP tool that will give me same that look and feel.
Cheers!

Zvonimir you made my day! If ever I was happily reminded of the good old days with Tri-X film, this shot is it. I absolutely love it and I thank you for it. The grain/noise is lovely, as is the flower and the bird! Well done sir!

Very best regards
Leo

We will continue on here with our flower posts and I will respond to shots put up at the end of Part I.

Here is one of a series I did using the DA*55mm lens plus 1.7TC. This is an Iceberg Rose but someone pointed out when I posted another very similar shot, that it looks very much like a Gardenia.

On with more flowers for September!

Best to all
Leo

Doug

I have to hand it to you because this is a truly brilliant shot. Not just because the Tamron 90 glass did a wonderful job but also because you composed and crafted the shot so excellently for the lens. Very well done sir!

Warm regards
Leo

Two great reasons to have a parade! A third would be this shot which is so well done matey! A third reason would be the job you did with those stunning poppies! The 100mm glass rendered the colours beautifully and also the bokeh is a dream...nice composition my friend.
Well done!

Warm regards

Thanks Leo you always find something positive to say.

I don't have the money for a camera upgrade so instead of discussing the new k5 or kr I thought I would post some flower pics instead

Thank you, Leo -- I'm really happy with the colour rendering of this new (new-to-me) lens, it captured the delicacy of blue morning glory perfectly.

Another from the same session ...

Thank you for doing that...I am so tired of the whining and the disappointment being shown. The K5 looks good but it is not enough for some. Pentax takes some wonderful photos and you show this with all of your posts my friend. These are all excellent. I love the whole series but the first shot is my favourite...for a still shot it fairly explodes with the butterflies movement. Very enjoyable mate!

Warm regards
Leo

Indeed Duncan...that yellow is buttery and I love the black of the central stamen area. The bee is awesome. Great shooting my friend. You are getting quite a lens collection now! Nice!

All the very best Duncan

Thanks again for your kind comments. When I returned home and I saw the butterfly images on my other screen the yellow flowers looked far too bright and lacked any detail and the green background was too bright also so I have edited the images and re uploaded. The thing is I use macbooks and they are very difficult to calibrate accurately so everybody else is probably seeing something different anyway.

Autumn here, summer flowers dying....

Everything changes

Hi Leo, thanks again for your monthly flower thread. So nice shots here ! :)

Another rose,

K7 - Tamron 70-200/2.8 @f8 - ISO 250

I should have used his 90mm little brother as at 160mm/f8 the dof is a bit short, and at close range the microcontrast is not really satisfying...

But I find the result not to be that bad :)

Cheers
Kind regards

Elie

Thanks for your comment :)

I've just tried it modifying the WB 500°k less and it looks more "real" or natural, but I like the warm tones. And they were not red roses but orange. Anyway... Thanks a lot ;)

Cheers

Excellent shot there Doug lovely composition!

A very nice shot of this lovely old blossom as it fades away. Very good work! Keep your eyes peeled as there will be many more similar shots as the whole of flowerdom goes to rest for the long winter season. Even in winter when the snows blow, an occasional faded blossom will be found, an echo of the past summer!
Thanks for posting and recognizing the beauty there.

Very best
Leo

Hi Dean!
