What's up,

this is my first post and I will be purchasing my first camera soon. I was wondering if you have ever purchased anything from bway.com because it looks like they have some sweet deals! I am going to buy the Sony f717 and I don't want to get ripped. I guess what I'm wanting to ask is, are their cameras brand spanking new and not refurbished, does it include everything that you would normally get, and are there any strings attached?

What is your experience with them?

Thanx for the help.

You're gonna pay big if you do. If the price looks too good to be true, it probably is. Caveat emptor.

After ordering you will get a call trying to pressure you into buying what they took out of the box, like the battery. If you don't buy thier crappy accessories then all of a sudden the camera will be out of stock. CROOKS!

My "rule of thumb" when researching market prices for cameras on the Internet and ordering a camera is to actually call the company(s) and ask more detailed questions in order to determine what they are actually advertising and the "real" price for the item you are interested in. The camera stores in particular are notorious for false advertising, bait and switch, and any number of other unscrupulous tactics.

I advise everyone to NEVER place an order for a camera directly over the internet because once an unscrupulous dealer gets your credit card number you could be in for a huge problem that will last many months while you try to get the charges on your credit card reversed.

I disagree. Broadway or bway.com or whatever name they use at the moment are crooks, whether you call them on the phone or order through their website. Every day I thank God that I learned about them before I sent them a cashier's check. Crooks are crooks, no matter what.

Never place an order directly on the Internet? I disagree. Many bargains can be found and you can have an enjoyable experience as long as you do your research first.

I had one of those unenjoyable experiences back in June beacuse I did not research the company. The worst that happened to me is that I didn't get the camera for the price. My credit card was never charged. I guess I lucked out but I did learn my lesson.
