I would like to see some indoor shots with a nex-3/5 and the 16mm pancake, preferably with dim lighting, no flash and some people in the pictures. Does anyone know of any link or has the time/are willing to post them selves?

Here are some shots I took at a VERY dark dance hall and afterwards at a bar, using the 16mm lens without a flash. The last shot in particular required a lot of work to try and remove noise and brighten the pic. There was no lighting at all in the side of the hall, just the light coming from the small Christmas lights.

Under the circumstances they really look awesome. It is very impressive that this camera and lens can manage to freeze DANCING people in such a dark environment and the other photos look really good too. The possibillity to take such pictures is the main reason why I would consider bying into the nex system.

You say you did some PP on the last picture including noise reduction and brightening. Did you shoot raw or was it done on an out of camera jpg?

I can see in the exif that you use manual exposure, but does the camera tell you in any way how much you will over or under expose the picture compared to the metering system?

One review I read was very enthusiastic over the Anti Motion Blur and Handheld Twilight modes, have you tested them? How do they work when the subject is moving a little, as for the group sitting down, or when a subject is moving more, like the dancers?

Thanks again for the kind answer, I take it you are really satisfied with your new camera.

HI!

When it comes to multiple shots of moving object there is always a risk involved. I have seen people gaining an extra leg when walking fast across the screen and cars have been chopped off... things like that. Sometimes you have time to re-shoot or edit the result Especially sweep pano can give you funny results. The low light function not that much, but things happen if people turn heads or do hasty movements during that second when the shots are fired. On average the outcome is slightly blurred compared to flash light or better light single shots, but that is to be expected. Noise is offcourse reduced both in multishot and three shot hdr which can be a good thing. Best rgds! Lars

Are you talking specifically of the Anti Motion Blur mode on the nex-3/nex-5 now? I don't know how the camera algorithms work for this function but I imagine that if it is cleaver enough it would only use one or maybe two of the six exposures for the moving parts of the image (and sacrifice the cleaver noise reduction in this area), while using all six shots for the static parts and get better noise reduction here.

I always shoot in RAW and PP in Lightroom. The NEX is my first real camera and I've never done any PP before but I've found Lightroom pretty easy to use. For reference, I created a JPEG without any of the retouching:

The camera still displays the metering when in manual mode, you just have control over it instead of the camera always keeping it metered at 0.

Unfortunately I haven't played with these modes yet, I just didn't think of it the night I took those pics. Handheld twilight probably would have worked well for the group of folks as long as I had kept them still, I'll make sure and try it out in the future.

Indeed, I've really enjoyed the NEX. It is an entire new world after having nothing but a point and shoot.

Here's a link to an Estate sale I went to with dim lighting using Nex 5 and 16mm.
