I don't mind those posts so much from posters who have been around, but I saw one here earlier today saying goodbye, and it was his first ever post on DPReview!
People are indeed strange
God Bless,

I was tempted to reply to that one as well, but I wondered. Suppose that poster was a fanboy of another company and created a separate account, then came in the forum just to stir up people? In that message, the poster said he (she?) had been waiting for Oly to offer a full frame. Say WHAT? For someone who allegedly had been shooting with Oly for years and years, it just didn't ring true, logical, whatever, to me.
I don't mind some goodbye threads. They make me consider my own position. Others examine the angles for themselves and may point out something I've missed. If it's just a rant, that doesn't help me however.
My latest conclusion btw is that it's way early to make any conclusions. Photokina will give more info, one way or the other. I'm especially interested to see if other Oly DSLRs get any updating or any lenses get tweaked (though I'm not holding my breath). An actual test and user reviews will give more info, one way or the other. It's good to know at least that there will likely be
some Oly DSLR available (new) in a few years.
Although I'm not planning to move to micro, I have to allow for the possibility that by the time
I'm ready to buy another body, they'll be improved to the point that using my lenses on them will be a pleasure. That's one area where I don't see any people predicting an end soon.
For me it's just as reckless to buy an E-5 before it's been tested as it is to abandon Olympus without the information. Pros are a different situation. I know some need it or are anticipating taking a beating on reselling their equipment if the system goes belly up. For most of us hobbyists, though, it seems very premature to me.
That's my opinion of course and others can do what they want.
