Does anyone know what this means?????

as usual, AF will not be as fast as in photo taking. live view AF always lag.
so, the coming full review, DPR will not give high score.

It means that based on our experience of AF in movie modes, we're not over optimistic about its effectiveness. That said, the D7000's contrast detection AF seems a lot more responsive than the D90. We'll reserve further judgement on this and the camera's other key systems until we get a production sample though.

Thanks for the explanation. I hate to say it, but my iPhone 4 takes better videos than my D90 of the kids running around the backyard. The d90 is just not usable with moving subjects in daylight. You cannot see the LCD well enough to keep manually focusing.

Can you comment on how the D7000 video AF compares to something such as an iPhone 4?

From engadget hands on:

"Sadly though, not all of this goodness made it to the camera's video continuous AF function -- much like the D3100, we had to keep things slow and steady for an accurate tracking. "

I was hoping for 2 major updates. Being able to replace my camcorder for videos of my kids, and a better sync speed with the onboard flash so I can use it for fill under bright sunny conditions.

While there have been minor upgrades to both of these, I don't think they have improved enough to upgrade from the d90.

Will be interesting to see how well or bad contrast detection AF in video mode
does perform. Also in dim light where contrast detection AF maybe struggle
even more.

Does anyone know if it is contrast detection AF in video mode only for
lenses with focus motor? I believe the new Sony A560 and A580 got
also auto focus in video mode, but only with lenses with focus motor.

I wonder how good or bad contrast detection AF in video mode is with
a "4/3 camera" or a Sony NEX camera, I have never used any of these.

Good auto focus in video mode is very usefull sometimes, but also I believe for
landscape scenes manual focus is sometimes best.

Since I am a Sony user I will take a look at the new SLT-A33 and SLT-A55
with translucent mirror and phase-detection AF during movie recording.
But I will wait for maybe a SLT-A77 since I am in no hurry.
A NEX7 or mirrorless from Canon or Nikon will also be interesting. Hope
to hear some news at Photokina.
