If FT was to end, where would you go?

I would be very tempted to return to Pentax. I started with a K-1000 which I still use. I have always shot with either Pentax or Olympus--never owned a Canon or Nikon or Minolta/Sony.

More than likely it would come down to ergonomics--whatever is comfortable in my hands and at my eye. ALL of the manufacturers make equipment far beyond my abilities as a photographer.

I have been considering switching before now, but nothing feels right when I hold it. The E-3 and the E-30 are the most comfortable to hold, next to my E-500. I simply would like faster, more accurate AF and a little less noise at high ISO. Every time I think of upgrading something happens to keep me from do so.

Hopefully 4/3s will continue. I will upgrade body and a lens or two. My daughter will inherit the E-500. Life will continue. Enjoy!

Was already adding items to a virtual shopping list at B&H. It's fun learning about a new system - as I didn't consider Sony before (they should have kept the Minolta name). The a55 changed that - surprising to see so much innovation in one camera. Not sure if I need any of said innovation. However, I am looking to trade my e30 to a camera with video, since I seldom shoot video so it sucks to carry a separate camcorder just to capture a few short bursts of video here and there. I've been intrigued with EVF finders as well, since testing them in stores revealed just how good they are. Seeing the image the way you're about to take it is a huge plus in my view, and avoids looking at your LCD to check if it turned out well. I've been tempted by micro four thirds, but have several issues: Panasonic doesn't have body stabilization, otherwise the G2 GH1 and presumably GH2 look great. Oly so far just has an add on viewfinder. None are fast enough for sports (but maybe fast enough?). Lenses so far are mostly low end stuff and too slow. Anyway, the Sony seems to address these issues: in body IS, fast focusing, really fast frame rate, and ability to use any of the existing lenses without any limitations. Anyway, I hope and even suspect I'll delete my virtual shopping list once the e-5 is announced. Even add some new higher grade Oly lenses to it.

Since I have 4 top quality Nikkor AIS and AI lenses from a Nikon F3 that I used for years, I would probably buy a D700 FX body this year or it's replacement in 2011. D300 is due to be replaced next year too.... However, I'm still going to wait for the results of Photokina. Holding out to see what the new D7000 (D90 replacement) and the E5 have to offer.
Cheers

The A55 is the only camera so far that made me doubt about my allegiance to Oly.

However as soon as Oly and Panny will introduce a semipro µ4/3 the gap with Sony will be filled and I won't need to change my lenses. Cameras come and go.

Am.

Pentax has always intrigued me. The ist DS was my second choice when I purchased my first DSLR. But the compact size of m4/3rds is very appealing.

Same here, though likely a D300, those full-frame lenses certainly are rich.

I would need a home for my 50/1,4 105/2,5 85/1,4 and 135/2,0

Hopefully. Anyway, funny that a few months ago many (including me) had doubts about Sony - especially about bringing something innovative out. The only drawback to the new series is lack of weatherproofing (as well as for most of their lenses).

Out to take some piccies with my still perfectly functional cameras ... ;) :) :P :D
