My F300EXR debut shots (many)

Danny, I'm not sure there is an entire stop between F30/31 and F300 (then, neither from F200). I've just seen some iso1600 in M size from F300 that is ALMOST comparable to my F30/31 shots.

I try to hazard half a stop, nothing more because I see the details inside some iso1600 pic that I don't see in some F31 photo (which is, on the other side, cleaner -NR-). Maybe I'm wrong but this is my feeling as far now.

Well, just an arbitary number. I still have not brought the F300 yet (still not available, grey market F300 is of a tempting US$255), so I just took the words of Hugo (hpicckcy) ex- poster who occasionally did tests for Fuji HK dealer, who had tested the F200exr, F70exr and F300exr.

I guess in real life it is difficult to tell if there is really a stop difference between F300 and F200. Not linear, some conditions may be similar, some conditions may be more than 1 stop. It is just a general impression. Hugo did not buy the F70, he kept using his F200, but the F300 was a tough call to him 'Great fun and useful tool at work' he said 'May buy one for my daughter'.

I guess iso1600 should be the last resort.

Heard some rumor in local photo forum, something revolutional may be announced by Fuji at Photokina on 21/09/2010, let's hope it is true, but then rumor is rumor.

Yes, I follow your comments and also what you report from Hugo.. ;) Correct, it's difficult to state at now what is what. Just my feeling about F300 shots and mine from F30/F31.

Let's hope we get something revolutional from Fuji: even less compromises in features but greatest quality to put in the pocket.
waiting... as usual.. :D

The '1 stop difference' was mentioned by Hugo when asking him what did he think about the F300 after testing it for a LONG while (he even took it to work :) )

But then it is his opinion only, we all need to have hands on experience before we can tell the difference between the F300 and our other cameras.

Just talked to him this afternoon. He is very busy and I have not seen him, Nico (agf) or other FTF members for quite a while. Lucky guy always have the chances to test/play new Fuji cameras :)

Yes, I wish Fuji can announce a new series of Digital Natura at Photokina, may be too big for regular pocket :) Unless they have small sensors :(

Danny learns it from Hugo ... but you can look at Hugo's work on his blog and in his gallery ... just google Hugo Poon ...
Once in a while, we chatted over the phone after works, I always tried to make him to disclose if he was testing any new cameras, I am not the only doing that :)some folks via mails. He has tight lips, but he is always willing to share his opinions of the cameras announced and tested. AFAIK, he is now posting in pbase and Aminus3 only.

The comments he made on F300 was from him directly, no more, no less. But then don't just accept it, view his samples and those from other sites (BTW, Conan posted some informative and valuable samples here, especially part 6), most importantly try one at shops or simply buy one, decide for yourself, how good or how bad the F300 is?
