Looking for some input on a great case for the new LX5. Seems like the official Panasonic Case is very difficult to find short of some overseas dealers on Ebay. (DMW-CLX5). Does anyone know if the cases for the Lumix LX3 would fit the LX5, or are some of the dimensions off so it wouldn't be a good fit? If I didn't go with the cool leather case, what other cases are you folks using that you really like with this model? Thanks.

The Lowepro Apex 100 or 110 would work. I have the LX5, Waiting on the Panasonic FL-220. I would also carry the charger, extra battery. Maybe the lens adapter with a filter or two.

At minimum a spare battery and SDHC card I would carry.

I would recommend the DMW-CLX5. I am trying to find one in the US. Granted it is more expensive, but like the LX5, you get what you pay for.

I'd recommend the LX3 case as they are both practically exactly the same size. I believe LX5 is 1mm thinner at the widest part of the depth from lcd to end of lens barrel when fully retracted.

I can confirm both the Lowepro Apex 100 and 110 work. Today I used the Apex 100 with the LX-5, FL-220 flash. I am sure when the extra batteries appear it'll fit.

The Apex 110 will let you take the charger as well and room for a filter.

I plan on using the lens adaptor to attach filters. That should arrive soon and should fit in the Apex 110.

Looks like the Optech D-Micro will serve the same purpose as the leather Panasonic case, by allowing use of the neck strap and providing a quick release to flip the case down for shooting, while keeping it attached to the camera. Just ordered from OneCall.

Extra half inch in height - might work for external viewfinder attached. That would be interesting.

My LX5, with the EVF attached, fits nicely into a LowePro Apex 60 AW (all weather) model. It can be used as a belt pouch (sturdy Velcro attachment built into the back) or as a small carrying bag (with the provided shoulder strap).

The LowePro AW series features a hidden, pull-out waterproof "raincoat" to protect the bags and your gear.

I have this case for my LX3, and it's a nice snug fit for that camera, but my new LX5 won't fit into it because of the higher hot shoe on top of the camera. The horizontal version of this case may work, though I'm not sure.
One other thing I should mention about this case is that although the seller claims it to be made of leather, it is not. I recently bumped up against a cabinet corner and damaged the dome which covers the lens. To my surprise, I found that the outer layer of "leather" is actually very thin vinyl, stretched out over some sort of hard, synthetic material. I'm not too disappointed, because I only paid about $20 for it and the case otherwise met my expectations, but it was too easily damaged.
