How much does video capability cost?

I felt the same.
I think video has more to do with firmware and processing power than hardware.

Anyway, on the 7D, it's just easy not to use it, and who knows, it can always come in handy.

Your chances for getting a DSLR without video capabilities are getting slimmer every day. As developing technology for video and implementing it must be done anyway, it is simply there. And while a simpler circuitry for image only would be cheaper, developing and producing it separately for an entire range of products (that are supposed to be cheaper) would greatly increase total R&D costs for producers. Hope I was clear :).

It's free and you're cheap. Think of producing two models, stocking two models, storing two models, it's ludicrous. And if you are really concerned about the 410 or even $50 you htnk might be the difference in cost, you should really pick up a different hobby considering the prices of cameras keep going down when you consider that the feature set keeps going up.

Oh, and I want a version without AEB as I shoot street and can't bracket my shots. How much less will that be?

Like you I'm not interested in video capability but you never know when that feature might come in handy. IMO if your camera includes video capability then some effort should be applied to learn how to use it ... who knows, you might really like it.

I'm also not interested in paying for the near worthless in-camera flash but hey, if you are without external flash and a "flash necessary" opportunity comes along and "if" you don't have a lens/hood combination that partially blocks that crummy in-camera flash output then it's possible the in-camera flash will save the day. I'm guessing (a very uneducated guess) the in-camera flash adds about $35 to the cost of an xxD camera; I can live with that.

Somebody that shoots only landscapes might not want to pay for the extra computing horsepower required to implement AI Servo AF but again, you never know when AI Servo AF will come in handy.

Similarly, somebody that shoots only landscapes might argue against paying for AF capability (which is expensive) .......................................................

Anyway, I'm sure you get my point.
