Yeah, ironically, I read through the Panasonic forum one day and there was a heck of a lot less hostility (that day at least) towards people who suggested an s90 had some advantages over and LX3 or LX5.Thats what makes it nice. Everyone has different thoughts! As the way it should be. Some care for the grip..some don't. I personally like the way the camera looks...some don't! Some people care about how many megapixels a camera has...some don't. Its not a competition here! Everyone has different thoughts! Lately when anyone makes a comment in here you get eaten alive. It's safer in the Nikon and Panasonic forums IMO...
I'm baffled by this whole grip issue. It is a tiny camera. The whole camera is a grip. My cellphone has no grip (gasp), and I'm still able to hold onto it, and I hold my cellphone up for much longer periods of time than a camera. The last glass of milk I drank had....wait for it.....NO GRIP!!! And yet I didn't spill a drop. The act of raising a slippery glass cylinder to your mouth and, with one hand no less, tipping out (sometimes burning hot) liquid seems like a much more delicate procedure than holding a small rectangle of metal out at arms length and pressing a button. Not only looks better, but more importantly has a grip making it easier to handled
I see that a huge portion of your posts are in the panasonic forum, singing the praises of the LX-3/5 and in the Canon forum putting down the s-90/95, G-12. So while I'm sure that you think your small pulpit is going to influence sales of these cameras, it won't. Let the big boys figure out what is good and bad on our own, we can do it.
I have no dog in this fight, I prefer taking pictures to obsessing over hardware, but every once in a while, the record player gets stuck and needs a bump to stop repeating the same part of the song.
Seriously, after being in the Canon forum for a while, I was shocked - shocked - to find that people would suggest that a Canon camera had an advantage over a certain other Panasonic camera and the response was..."yeah".
I think the kind of people who really enjoy the conflict couldn't find enough conflict in the Panasonic forum and moved over to the Canon forum where constantly saying the LX5 is better gets a lot more responses than saying the opposite with the lx5.
Snapshot, I have only been here a couple of days, and its obvious even to me that you have some agenda here other then genuinely discussing the cameras.
Or perhaps people are just tired of hearing you bash Canon over and over again, and highlight "problems" that you feel are critical, even though they may not be a big factor at all to others. And you don't just highlight issues with Canon, you advocate one specific competitor relentlessly. But when someone comes along, such as myself, that says Canon can do better and the competition is matching or exceeding their quality, people that own Canons immediately get defensive and use every technique and reason to defend it.

Yea, verily it is so, The Great SnapShooter has decreed that we are in need of salvation from the hidden dangers of Canon - and Toyota too, and indeed he shall save and enlighten us. He is as the sound of one hand clapping in the wilderness of ignorance, the voice of understanding and insight above the babble that is the Canon Talk and imparts the wisdom of the Panasonics. Verily indeed we are not worthy. . . . not worthy . . . not worthy. So, be silent, ignorant fools!. Take heed of the Great Snapper, and now snap to attention.Yeah, I sure don't understand why everyone cannot just get along and be respectful to other people's opinions.
This mentality that you are limited to just one forum does baffle me.
I have owned Canon, Panasonic, Nikon and Fuji cameras, and not of them are perfect. But it does seem for some reason in the Canon forum that there is this mentality Canon can do no wrong. They can produce not the best camera in its class, but people will still rave it is the best.
Granted, alot of this is what happened to Toyota. The consumer makes a decision on a purchase and the last thing they want to hear or believe is they might have made a wrong decision, let alone hear there is a potential issue. This has been proven time and time again, that for companies such as Canon and Toyota that are "perceived" to be the best or the leader in their industry, the consumer is more likely to overlook medium or large issues. But those companies that are considered the underdog, even the smallest issues are blown out of proportion...kind of like the idea that unless you own a Canon or Toyota, then problems are expected...kind of the norm.
But when someone comes along, such as myself, that says Canon can do better and the competition is matching or exceeding their quality, people that own Canons immediately get defensive and use every technique and reason to defend it.
It's condescending, to tell someone that you are sorry for their feelings . indeed it's presumptuous and impertinent, so stifle your smarmy sympathy. :|Welcome to the forum and I am sorry you feel that way.

I’m reasonably sure that snapshot09 is not a bad person, but I would guess he is also about 13 years old. Not that being 13 is bad, but perhaps his judgement still has room to develop.

It won't be called G13... being that 13 is considered an unlucky number. G14 is more likely. And yes, that P7000 is going to be amazing...I sure hope for Canon's sake they still have some type of surprise for the the G12, otherwise onward and upward to the G13 then as Nikon will be taking all their G12 customers.
Awesome!, man. You're so special, so diverse, so ubiquitous, all encompassing, unbiased, penetrating incisive. We'll never catch-up up to you. You're out there, far out. Inspiring to all fora.Unlike most on here . . .

The link renders an error page. [/U]This review just done....here is a direct comparison using resolution charts for the lx3 vs lx5. At least in this test, and to my eye, I think the lx5 is a little over cooked.
