D700 replacement wait is driving me nuts :-)

I'm waiting here for 1080P also. Been very happy with the D300 so have no compulsion to jump into FX until the video's there. Then I can toss the video camera out of my camera bag when I go on trips :-).

Bit frustrated at Nikon for taking so long to get this marriage going.
It's worth waiting if you want 1080P HD video. I would wait....well it's me...

I have absolutely no need for video in my camera. I had two camcoders in my life and both ended up collecting dust in my basement. I guess I am too slow to follow moving objects. :-)

I have agree... I don't have much need for video either. It has been useful to record video periodically (a few times a year?), but I don't care much for video, and I only rarely use the camcorders I have access to.

I was one of those people who thought I'd never need video in a DSLR, but after seeing what amazing movie clips you can capture with a DSLR versus a camcorder, I've move onto the new school of thought. I need, and want video in the next camera I will purchase, which will be the D700 replacement.

Video from a camcorder and a DSLR does not compare. It's like comparing a chevy cavalier to a Mercerdes S class. They both have 4 wheels, but that's where the similarities end.

I'm completely sold on FX DSLR video.

If it comes with video, I will give it a try.
I will remain a still photographer primarily though.

A Kodak Brownie can produce a great image in the right hands.

We have lots in common. Only difference between us is probably cash availability :)

A friend of mine offered me $500 for my old, extensively used, and missing a few accessories D200. Since I wanted to go FF, I figured I could use the cash to finance that purchase. I'm not gonna add to the debate about D700 vs D3s vs D800, but like you, I was first waiting. And then I missed shooting. So I bought a very cheap D60 on craigslist ($250) and despite the downgrade, I'm now ready to wait for whatever Nikon is cooking for us. My trip to HK is booked for Nov, and I sure will break the bank when I get there. Back to the D60, I'm slowly getting into studio portraiture, so glass is more important than body. To me of course :)
Happy shooting

Its a great camera. A tool. Use it, and enjoy!

There will always be a new toys coming, but if D700 specs fits your need, why to look back? Shoot and enjoy! :)

The D700 is an excellent picture taker. Open the box and start taking pictures, you won't regret it. Once you get the replacement for the D700, you will then want the replacement for the D7XX by saying, "I can't wait for the D7XX replacement!!).

there is way too much equipment wanting on this forum. Use what you got and enjoy!!
Respectfully,
David Miller

No No No...David...KG2002 said that he is waiting for the replacement of D700 to come so D700 price will drop...KG2002 not going to buy D700 upgrade...

I, myself is waiting for D700 upgrade...why not buy D700 now...? 'cus I have not save enough for D700 as yet....by the time the upgrade comes out...say next April to reach my country...wahla...I will be able to afford it...sad to say, me too holding on to my D200. As D300s does not...not at all appeal to me to buy it...

Cheers to all who owns D700!!
