Hi, I don't use it very often but the other day I took the wireless remote control from my camera (a700) bag and found that the battery was depleted.

I think it's because it was tight in the bag with some of the buttons pressed down.

Now I've to find a CR2035 cell battery to replace (ok, let's make it two batteries).

Did it happen to you?

I had mine die after about two years. I don't think the buttons were pressed. The battery should be a 2032, not 2035, and they are very common. Radioshack or even Wal-Mart should have them.

No, whenever I bring it, I always make sure it has the necessary space so the buttons won't be pressed.

I just replaced the battery. Was a 2035 before. so I replaced it with the same.
The user guide that came with the camera stated to use 2025.

May I ask where you get you got the information to use the 2032 ?

Rule # 17 - always keep spare batteries on hand for every piece of electronics you are going to use in a shoot, as you never know when they will die.

It's not actually a numbered rule, but something one MUST do if you're shooting professionally or have a once in a lifetime capture you need to be sure to get. ;-)

Now I take the battery out when I am not using it for a while, keep it in one of those CF plastic cases. Also purchased a wired remote just in case.

Same for both my Sony Handicam and A900 remotes (same type battery) - depleted with almost no use - as suggested probably better to remove them and replace when needed.

I often find dead CR2032 batteries in items I don't use much.

They're pretty expensive locally, so I solved the problem by just buying packs of 20 from Hong Kong - where the pack of 20 plus postage often costs only as much as buying a pack of two locally does.

Hi, thank you for your comments. I double checked my remote and it's powered by one CR2025.

Cheers

PS: Have you noticed how expensive are the SONY-wired ones? (!)

Yes, that is exactly what happened to mine. Almost no use, buttons pushed in due to pressure from being in a tight position in my camera bag. REALLY poor design by Sony that could have been improved easily. My solution was to place the remote into a hard plastic case that previously came with a cassette tape. I added a couple of small foam cushions to keep the unit in position without rattling and to keep the buttons away from the inside of the case. This has solved the problem.
