Lincoln Memorial C&C

I really like it. It has sort of a "timeless" look to it. I think that your b/w treatment is quite good

My thoughts exactly. I love b&w!
Very well done :)

I like the angle and composition. Nice and sharp all over. Now you just need to do something about the big spot on your sensor. It shows up in the sky just left of center.

it looks like dust but on the other hand it seems way to big to be a spec of dust...

You can shoot a blank wall with a small aperture.. say.. f/11 or f/16 and see if you can reproduce that spec. If you can then it's definitely dust on the sensor (meanwhile experiment with more than one lens if you can to eliminate the lens as the cause of the problem.. of course you can always look at both sides of your lens and see if you find any dirt in it).

thanks guys! I'll PS it (didn't notice it before) and see if the sensor needs cleaning... Ugh, will this cost me much?

Very impressive !

Remove the lense, open the shutter and use this:

Should set you back 9.99 + shipping.

Make sure you use the blower on the back of the lense too! If dust remains then it may be time for a wet cleaning. You can do it yourself, but if totally new I'd suggest having it done by a pro. I learned by trial and error, but your first time is always scary :-). There is a lot of good tips out, just search Google for some DIY tips.

LASTLY! Great shoot! I live just 20 mins from there in Columbia and take for granted the photo opportunities. If near DC you can swing by Penn Camera, they may be able to perform the service for you.

It's possible the speck is on the rear element of the lens. I would check that first, but it is most likely a spot on the sensor. Actually the low-pass filter in front of the sensor, but you probably know what I mean.

I think others have given you the advise to try a Rocket Blower, that would be a good idea. Don't use any other device to try blowing it out.

If that doesn't work, you will need a wet cleaning. It's fairly easy to DIY, see the site - they have the best system going. But if you feel uncomfortable (quite understandable), a good local camera shop could do the job for you. I would not recommend sending it to Nikon for this, unless you have some other problem you would want them to look at as well. Too expensive, and I've heard stories about the camera coming back with the same or more spots than when it went to them.

Good luck, and for now you should be able to post-process the images as needed.

Not sure why the link is blocked, but you can google copperhillimages

I usually don't like black and white images but this one looks really good. I think it takes a special type of subject matter and composition for B&W to work and yours worked nicely.
