Does anybody have a backpack they can recommend that will take the W-CON, BOTH T-CONS, a LiPo, and carry a tripod? Of course with some extra room to spare. I know LowePro and Tamrac makes these, but I'm looking for some real life experiences.
Thanks.

I had a Tamrac summit 777,it would hold everthing and has a system where you can add on lens bags etc. The drawback is it weighs a ton when full. I sold it on e-bay a while back, I'm getting to old to carry all that stuff around on my back. The 787 is even bigger,go to the site and see the line.... Good luck,Rich

Thanks, Rich. I'll go check out these two. I've been hiking around with a shoulder bag for now. But today I was feeling my age too. Hmmm...how old was Ansel Adams when he was trekking around his gear? Maybe I need a sherpa, huh?

I dont think you understand how heavy all that stuff is. I am an average man(5'10") and i have been on several trips with this bag, with the E-10, Lipo, Tcon 14, close-up set, FL-40, tripod(strapped to the bottom), and few miscellanious articles(first aid kit, extra batteries for flash). The bag with that is quit heavy. Anyways, I hope this helps with your indevours.

Maybe I don't. But I have been carrying my E-20 w/Tcon 14, Wcon, FL-40, 4 sets (16 AAs) of batteries, 3 filters, and misc. items. My tripod also straps to the bottom of my Tamrac bag. I usually go out for 2-3 hours, and the shoulder bag really hasn't been much of a problem. A plus over the BP bags is easy access while hiking. But I fear the Tcon 300 will require a truck! As soon as I can afford it though, I'll be looking at a carbon-fiber tripod.. That should help some.
Thanks again.

Not actually relevent, but for what it's worth.... ;)

Ansel routinely lugged 40 pounds on his back, including a wooden tripod. That guy was amazing. For one hike up to phtograph half dome in Yosemite, he carried just 12 photographic plates. Twelve shots -- I use 15 or 20 just trying to figure out what apperture and shutter to use.

Incidently, he got the shot in a two takes -- he shot 10 on the way up, but wind/camera shake (dang wooden tripods) ruined them. That left just two shots for his final attempt -- one with a yellow filter, and the keeper with a red.

I learned all this on-line at the SF MOMA: http://www.sfmoma.org/education/edu%5Fonline%5Fadams.html Check it out!

Why is it I can remember junk like this, but consistently forget my PIN number at the ATM? ;)

Hi Mark,

I just got a LowePro BP at the shop the other day, I carry everything you mention, except the 300b, but could fit that in if I wanted.

Curt

Yes it is a back pack style. It also has a shoulder strap if you just want it on one shoulder and wish to carry it at your side. Along with the Modular Accessory System™, and the Strap Accessory System™ this little backpack can hold quit a bunch of stuff.

The Tamrac Link is here.

I have been hauling all of my equipment for the past month with the Lowepro Mini Trekker. I have both my TCONs my WCON and my macro lenses stuffed inside and there is a bit of room left over. I find the pack to be both comfortable and very usable.

The tripod straps on very quickly and is a great feature. I don't have any extra pouches yet. I have been hauling backpacks up and down mountains for over 25 years, and this pack is right up there when it comes to comfort.

I got mine through ebay for about $86 US + shipping. B&H wanted $110.
