Hi Ross,

Always great to get a compliment from you!

This was shot quite early in the morning, just after golden hour. As it is in a bit of a valley, the mist and fog hung around for quite a while. So, yes, the haze is a natural artifact of the environment.

The Vari-N-Duo is a brilliant system. It warms up the scene and removes reflections really well. I think I had it dialed down to about 2 stops from memory.

The only thing I did in Digital Photo Professional was to correct my white balance by using a non-saturated portion of the waterfall, sharpening, distortion correction and slight adjustment of both the contrast and brightness sliders.

In Photoshop CS4, I added 10% vibrance and the default linear contrast curve at an opacity of about 25%.

I try to do as very little as I possibly can in post-processing, letting the polarizer/neutral density filters and light do the work for me in camera.

Thanks, again!

Regards,
Humayun

How's the vignetting on that Vari-ND? I've considered getting it in the past, but the size of the thing left me wondering about the degree of vignetting on a wide angle lens mounted to a FF camera. I have the 5D2 as well. Did you have to crop anything or are you well safe by f/16?

Seaclam,

I purchased the thin ring mount version, but, vignetting is still noticeable to about 24mm, so, I only use it when I can get away with framing my scene beyond 24mm.

Otherwise, I have nothing but praise for it. Saves me so much headache in post. : )

A very fine photo and colors. I wish I could take similar.

But I noticed that stones under the waterfall look a bit like separated from the water below. The bubbles below them make that effect, I think.
