My First S90 Pics

I am a total amateur into photography. Have just started reading about all the terms and my camera functions. I just bought s90 and started playing with it.

I dint knew how to upload pics in here so I am giving my gallery's link for you all to comment. Most of these are night shots from my place right across New York City.

I don't know much of the settings for day/night mode but just managed to click a few. Will keep uploading as I click more. Thanks

Yes I just took out the camera so thought of clicking some shots.
Hopefully with practice I could take some good pics in near future :)

:) yeah its an awsome place for clicking pics.. So howz the s-90? Just a question(hope u dont mind) - why did you choose s-90 over g-11??
 
Just bought it like week so right now playing with all the features. Saturday got a chance to click some night shots of downtown and empire state lit up with Indian tricolor. I am a total amateur and learning about all the terms and features. S90 looks good.

Why S90 - I would love to buy a SLR if it was not for the size. I really can't carry a big camera. I wanted a camera which I can take anywhere in my pocket. So this was the main reason. And after researching for some time and getting some help from the experts here and also seeing the excellent pictures of S90 , I decided to go with it.

It has some good manual control which would make me feel I am working on a SLR :)
 
One question.
I am still reading the features of this camera.

What exactly is the back ring control for while taking shots. On focus when I turn the ring it makes scene more brighter dark.
Sorry for this stupid ques :)
 
fair enuf...but s90 zoomed that far (empire state building from waterfront)?? :o

i m eagerly waiting for my g11 to ship :)
 
wasn't it supposed to zoom that far :)

I think it was taken with the digital zoom, I could have zoomed a lil more but the pic was not that clear.

The back ring does different things depending on which mode you are in and to some extent, what settings you have chosen. A common thing for it to do is adjust the compensation exposure. The camera picks what it thinks is a good exposure (brightness) but you can over-ride that by telling it to make the image brighter or dimmer. Sounds like that's what it's doing in the settings you have.
 
ow! i dont consider the digital zoom part :) have they improved now to bring out clearer pics on high zoom too??

i also always want to shoot the moon, does ur s90 reach that?? (optical + digital i mean) :)

update on my g11 - will get it tomorrow can't wait :)
