I have a profile tool that I would love to use on a D2X if somone wants to meet up and go shooting one day in the Gorge.

I sold my D2X and have none to make a profile with.

I know there might be a variance from any machine I maybe be lucky enough to get it from, and my old unit, but would have to say that the profile would probably be a LOT closer than any of the adobe defaults.

Thanks in advance!!!

I'm not on the West Coast, but if you just want a few daylight Passport NEFs, I can do that if you can't find anyone locally. Otherwise, I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to hit the PDX area in a month or so, but at the moment it's about a 40% thing.

And I would love to get a couple NEFs.

my e-mail is in my profile here. If you could maybe send them via YouSendIt. or somthing like that would be perfect.

Or let me know if you have other ways you want to do it.

Oh...and if you still end up making it out to our fair state...if you have time, look me up, still wouldnt mind going out on a shoot with you...if your interested.

Thanks!!!

I would really like to get a D2X profile using my x-rite color checker.

Anyone else in the area that would like to meet up?

I dont mind sharing the resulting profile.

Ended up not being able to meet with Marianne. (Thanks so much for the offer) as I had some family issues pop up that weekend. :(

Anyone out there with a passport color chart and a D2X willing to help by sending a picture of the target...I already have the software.

thus you need quite a few profile target photos with the Passport in different lighting situations to make it meaningful for what you are going to use them for.

One profile in medium to bright shade would do me just fine. That represents the majority of light I shoot in

I have been playing with most lighting conditions with profiles on my D300 and D70 and found the same thing over and over again....for the most part the diffrences between lighting conditions is very minimal. It's not to say its non-existant, but it is minimal.

One profile would help me quite a bit, and be a LOT closer to proper than any of the defaults from Adobe.

I am apparently in the same circumstance as Roman. The majority of my past images are from a D2X which I recently sold (before getting a Passport ColorChecker). The improvement in color rendition from using the ColorChecker with my D3X has been terrific. A majority of my images are done in the first 1/2 hr. after dawn, or the last 1/2 hr of dusk. If someone has a D2X ColorChecker image from that time frame in a landscape environment I would be most appreciative. I can make arrangements for getting a NEF or DNG file online. A crop of just the ColorChecker would be fine, and should be small enough to email as an attachment. You can contact me @ [email protected] Thanks in advance -

Hey Roman,

I could make a profile shot for you - just picked up an x-rite passport and still have my trusty old D2x (still in great shape, too). I'm flat out at work this week, but could make one this weekend. Just let me know where to send the nef.

Tom: I enjoyed looking at your Pbase galleries. I would very much appreciate the NEF. You can send it to my email address, below, although a full-sized NEF might be more than sbcglobal.net will allow as an attachment. A crop of the NEF or a DNG would work, too. Thanks for your response.

Hi Randall,

I enjoyed your galleries as well! Fabulous work in coastal SF bay area, Marin County, and I'll have to spend more time in your Patagonia galleries. Top drawer all around!

As I mentioned to Roman, I'm really busy at work this week, preventing me from getting outdoors during daylight hours. I'll have time this Sunday and will send an NEF then (or a crop, if need be).

not to hijack the thread
but whats the best way to make profiles using the colorchecker

i shoot wih a d300 and made a profile in lightroom
but to be honest was not happy with it and ended up using D2x mode 1

i've only had it for a few days and basically i shot a frame of the color checker in the light i was shooting in (in this case doing some portratit work outdoors with a sb-800 off camera)

monitor is calibrated using spyder3 Elite so no problems there.

would appretiate any guidance someone might have

1. They have a video on the web site.
http://www.xrite.com/custom_page.aspx?PageID=140

2. I have found very little (but some) diffrence in intensity of light, but no diffrence in what color of light you shoot the target in. I use my light shade as my default, and have not had to use any other profile....and I have tested it on shots in all kind of diffrent light.

I set it on a stand, filled the frame, made sure my WB was dead on, and my exposure was dead on. And that was all I needed. Bright shade is probably the best from my experience.
