OK, I'm sure everyone is probably sick of this topic, so I'll try to be succinct:

1) can the iMAC brightness be reduced to 90CD/m2?
2) if yes, will one still get a "quality" (yea, I know, loaded word) image?
3) can the iMac colors be accurate if calibrated with a Spyder3?

sigh. which iMac are you referring to?

current LED models, yes; last generation, not w/o something like ColorEyes that manages the brightness via the video card LUT

I own an iMac 24" from mid-2009. Factory brightness level at minimum is 190cd.
HOWEVER, and here's the good news:

If you own a Spyder3 with the latest software update (Spyder3 Elite 4.0), the brightness can be adjusted to the level you need. Also, you can make different profiles for different levels. When working in a dim lit/dark room 90 cd will work, but a minimum of 120cd is required when working in daylight conditions.
It works for me. And it calibrates fine for colors. No complaints.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
