TL350 Test Shots and Video

No 60FPS at all.... Noda nuthin.... FOGETABOUTIT... I was hoping for it myself. Maybe in a firmware update, who knows..

As far as the card, it's an old cheap 4gb PNY Optima sdhc.. I have no idea of the speed, but it has absolutely no problem with taking the videos..

I'm reaally liking the pano mode in portrait orientation.

I don't know what happened to the first one I did on my site that was blurry in the first image, but it is a cool feature for sure.

This is in Landscape orientation...

This is in portrait... SOOC as well..

I love your pond with your Koi's and turtles, so do they get along?

Question on panoramic:

1. what is the largest resolution you can take?

2. Can you use any zoom, or does the camera lock the camera to wide angle?

3. Are there modes for vertical pano?

4. There is something strange going on with this pano, the left side is all blurry, and than suddenly it's sharp again, I wonder if the focus changes as you pan, see below:

Thanks.
Not sure what the resolution is. It does not say or allow you to adjust. I may have moved my hand to get the blurry first shot. It was unusually dark for that time of day. The panos seem to like light.

No zoom with the pano mod either.

Hope that helps..

So if there is no 60 fps at all, in what resolution is the 1000 fps available? Is there any other super fast frame rate (other than 1000 fps)?

A question -- As far as viewing the end result on a HD screen precisely what are the benefits of a camera that is capable of 60fps against another which is limited to 30fps

As there seems to be some disappontment with the TL350 30fps I would be interested to know why
Regards
Bob

everybody want every camera now to have manual video control and have 1080p 30fps and 24fps as well as 720p 60fps...doesn't matter the price of the camera or the intended use of the camera it seems. Video is always going to be compromised with the sensors and lenses in cameras of this size and price so it's mostly a lot of hot air.

Thanks, if the uploaded file is not resized from the original, the resolution does have not enough pixels to produce any decent print. For onscreen, it will do fine.

In my case it is because I want to view the videos mostly on a computer, and have fast moving (canine) subjects. The motion is much more fluid with 60 FPS compared to 30. When doing slow motion effects in video, with twice the # of frames, those scenes become more fluid as well.

I don't know all the technical aspects of it, but apparently TVs can display 60FPS since there are some video game systems like PS3 that have 60 FPS games. So the TV is capable. But you'd need 60 FPS source material to play, and I don't think DVD players do that, but BluRay might (big question mark).

Digital media players, like the Asus O!Play are becoming more popular- they allow one to load video files onto a USB drive then play videos to their TV directly off the USB drive. If I had 60 FPS video, I'm sure I could put that video file onto a USB drive then play the 60FPS video with smooth motion on my TV.

Playing back some test 1080i60 footage from my Sony hx5 to the PS3 is noticeably smoother compare to 1080p30 or 720p30 format. The PS3 converts the interlaced frame to full frame on the fly, you are essentially getting the benefit of 1080p @ 60fps. To get the same benefits on computer, I have to use JES-interlacer to convert the interlaced footage, which is very time consuming and creates huge files, simply a pain to deal with.

I personally hate interlaced format, so the lack of 720p60 is a little disappointing.

I think I really like this camera, and may even get a second one.

I know this image is a little "hot" but this gal comes in and says 'is that a SAMSUNG"? Does it have the Beauty feature? I laughed and said "I think so" Then proceeded to find the feature and take this shot with it. Actually I'm pretty impressed with it. This image is even an in camera crop.

I'm looking forward to some "controlled" reviews.

I hope you all enjoyed the random images and videos I posted. When I first got it, it was hard to find any.

And this here is a random out the window shot, but boy it sure is close to perfect...

Rip, I just wanna thank you for posting all those pics. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing that touches it in the price range. My replacement arrives tomorrow, so I'm really looking forward to it. :)

Rip,

Two more impressive images. Pretty girl! Thanks a lot for posting your pictures. That's a real testament for the TL350 for you to mention thinking of getting a second one.

I'm not a video person. Why is everyone upset that the TL350 lack video at 60fps?

The 60fps is a minor feature of a pocketcam, but some are looking for the perfect VIDEOCAM in the wrong place. Pocketcams are primarily concerned with still image IQ, and secondarily video.

The 60FPS allows for a more smooth effect during playback along with a little more latitude for creativity.

The point of being disappointed comes from the anticipation from the specs. They all indicated the camera would have it. So, it's an "over promised, under delivered" thing.

My interest was also for aerial videos where the slow effect would make for a more dramatic clip. Have a look at any aerial video footage and you can see what I mean. The HDPRO cam has it with the GOPRO.. http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=33

They sell these things like hotcakes too. Search Google for HD Hero 60fps and look at some video examples.

case and point here..

Watch the whole video too. This person also shows an example from a helmet cam on bike..

You should have offered to show her your beauty feature if she showed you hers afterwards :)
