Dear All,

I will travel to Niagara tomorrow, but I am wondering that my 14-35+E-3 is water resistant enough for the trip? Does anyone have previous experience with Olympus combo shooting in Niagara falls?

Thank you,

Mark

yep used E3 and the 14-54 last year on the Maid of the Mist whilst others were hiding under poncho's

never misses a beat the E3 no matter what weather you throw at it

Lets see, the E-1 did trips to Niagara Falls in 2005, 2007, and 2009. The E-3 joined in in 2009. For the Maid of the Mist boat ride and/or behind the falls attraction, I used the 14-54mm in 2005/2007 and the 50-200mm and 11-22mm in 2009. I borrowed the 8mm and 7-14mm for the 2007 trip, but I'm not sure I used them where the water was coming down fairly heavily.

No problems — though the mist can be everywhere, even above the falls. You need to keep the front of the lens moisture-free.

the problem i found with mist of maiden boat ride is there are tons of people on the boat. which if you are trap in the middle, it's very difficult to composite.. you can only rise your camera above your head and shot. so try to get to a good spot immediately when you get on the boat.

after the ride, i think there's some time on the dock where you can shoot the fall using a telephoto lens(say 50-200).. but i haven't try that myself..
