Fisheye 180° for Sony DSC-F717 or F707

Hi what are you guys thinking about the following lense?

http://www.pauck.de/marco/photo/stuff/peleng_fisheye/peleng_fisheye.html

"The standard adapters supplied with the lens are one for M42 screw mount and one for ‘H’ (Nikon) mount. In case you want to use another mount, you must use an additional adapter to M42, i.e. an adapter to an adapter. Workable but not very elegant … "

So i would need a M58 adapter to M42 ... where can i find that?

ThanX

Christian
I am trying to find a fisheye lense for the sony DSC-F717 or F707
  • 58mm lens thread
  • fisheye with 180 degrees x 180 degress or more ;-)
so i am looking for a lense like the Nikon Fisheye Converter FC-E8:
http://www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/DigiCam/User-Guide/lens/lens-fish.html

but it should work with the Sony ;-)

does anybody know such a lense?
where can i buy it/find it?

Please help ;-)

I used that lens or my Nikons. Here are the results:

http://brunerdog.tripod.com/pages/IMG0027copy.htm

The only problem was that this lens broke after a year of semi-serious use. The focus ring got blocked and to repair it was another $100. Plus it's a heavy big piece of glass.

As far as the conversion ring goes you can probably get it here:

Heh. My man the quest for today is to find out how good they are. We are trying hard for the past few days or so but it seems that nobody used them yet or they refuse to share their observations.
No idea how good these are but it is at least worth looking at

So I did drag my behind to BandH today to test Raynox fisheye lens and some Century Optics. They didn't even have new Raynox but they had this:

Above is another lens from Raynox which worked fine but the fisheye curves were not well visible. The distortion was there but it wasn't what I was after.

Above is the lens from Century Optics. It made my AF go bannanas and camera constantly tried to adjust even if in special lens mode or macro. I wish I had more time to test it with the proper set up but I didn't feel like forking over $300 to take it home for a try.

So it looks like I'm back to square one. I can't wait for the NYC Photo Show in two weeks to really try stuff.

I tried(borrowed) that Raynox MX3000PRO. Not a bad little lens for the cost. Great if you just want it for effect but theres too much CA in the corners.

samples:
These were shot with the 707 long ago

look at this ne below...look at the left side ...holy cow eh!

The Nikon Fisheye lens is NOT compatible with the 707/717 at all. But don't give up hope, the Raynox 180PRO fisheye is a full frame fisheye that does fit these cameras. I'm using one right now and it has two attributes that make it worth checking out. It covers the whole frame and it can be used with the camera zoom. So you can pick your shot and re-frame with the zoom to make the composition work.

Of course the distortion is extreme, but the middle of the shot is quite sharp with softness banished to the corners.
