This web site is almost worthless. How long does it take to come up with a review of a camera? Askey in his super arrogant "don't bother writing to me" prologue states that it takes him at least 2 weeks to finish a review. 2 weeks?!? I can manufacture a camera from raw chemicals and sand in 2 weeks.

As a customer I expect a review the moment a camera becomes available on the market - any market. I mean, where would Roger Ebert (a movie critic, for those living in the darkness i.e. outside of the US) be if he was posting his reviews 3 months after the movie release date. That's exactly what this guy Askey does. He takes months before he comes up with something and even then it barely makes sense. In other words, don't expect G3 or S45 review this year.

You might say who am I to complain. Well, I'm a client. Askey sells ads on his website because I come here and read. So I think I'm entitled to have expectations.

That kind of brings me to my second beef. THis web site lives off of advertising. How objective can it be? I mean it seems to me, that it doesn't review cameras, it sells them. You gotta admit - how many real bad machines have been reviewed here and recommended? Some highly!

Give me a break.

And post some reviews.

Perhaps because the reviews are objectively truthful, while you're obviously willing to lie. Lying is much quicker and easier.
As a customer
How much did you pay?

How much did you pay to visit this forum? Take some personal responsibility instead of sniping away at everyone else. This world owes you nothing. All you have to do is not visit the forum if you don't like it. It's not rocket science.

This is arguably the best digital photograghy web site. It is also one of the best web sites on the entire web. Phil, or anyone else, could never come close to pleasing everyone, even he has done a superb job like he has been doing.

Be kind, be unselfish, be tolerant, and be gone if you only want to complain.

How are they selling ?

What's the optimum focal length ??

How did you overcome the "pickle matrix" ung hey.....with the monkeys screaming and and the biting.

If you don't like here, go somewhere else mate.

Ouch ... were you hurt in some way or other by dpreview? Bought a wrong camera perhaps?

If you can point us to a better website, kindly do so 'cos so far this is the best.

Phil takes extra time to finish up complete review, it's not his primairy job it's his hobby which became very successful and he does it for free for us, the readers. Of course, there other reviewers out there, but they don't come even close to what Phil is doing. I am very greatful that there is someone who takes his time and does it for everyone else and not asking anything in return (e.g. membership fees to view the reviews) Also, there is not much advertisment on this site compare to others, so it's probably covers the expense to run this website or covers other expenses such as traveling to take sample pictures...

So, don't like it, then go somewhere else, we don't need people like you here. If you ever ask for help on this forum, I will just ignore the post.

... he just posts some absurd and watches how everyones flames him... (look at his other post in Nikon) so, my guess he has a fetish for that...

Ah, thanks for that one. Living in the darkness, axis of evil ... it´s not about being anti-American, it´s more about being anti-the-rest-of-the-world, isn´t it?

Cheer up!

So don't come here anymore. Start your own digital imaging website, I'm sure you can do much better.

Surfing is a free choice.
Getting expectation is a choice.

I admit that everyone is waiting for a Canon S230/S45 official review or something else, but at the end it's a free service for you.
Free to think what you want.
I discovered this web site 18 months ago and suddently I loved it!

I do like this site so much that every day I load the web page hoping to find a new camera review. If not, no problem: I'll wait the day after. And so on.
Bye bye

You can give yourself a break. Leave.

Your not a customer or client. Your bait. Unless your contributing with money or time to the site infrastructer, your just bait.

If you expect a review the 'minute' the cam becomes 'available', contact the mfg's and see if they'll send you one right out to review. No review like a first hand one.

It a free site to the bait. If you want to change this dynamic and make you the customer rather than the bait, you'll have to be willing to pay for the prevledge. Then you can make a ligit complaint that the review is not done fast enough to suit you.

There is a very easy solution to your problem. Take this site out of your bookmark.

Get over yourself.

I personally have found it very informative. The users have always given a hughe amount of insight to techniques, problems, and resources. It is my understanding that Phil is doing this as a hobby, so in short when you are doing something "voluntarily in your spare time", you thank them for their efforts. Looking at this objectively, you have several choices. 1-Look for other websites to secure the info you need. 2-Start your own web site or discussion group. 3-Don't visit this web site / forum, since nobody forced you to come/stay here in the first place.

Since you are not happy with it, option 3 seems your only choice. "Don't go away mad...just go away"
