Panasonic 8mm arrived today - Samples

Cool! These look very good. The 8mm fisheye is on my must have list so I am anxiously awaiting the US release. Where are you located?

If you check the OP's profile on dpreview you will see that he/she lives in Spain. Panasonic tends to sell new M43 cameras and accessories first in Europe where they command higher prices than in the US. For example the 8mm fisheye is currently for sale new from a UK retailer like Mathers of Lancashire for 595 GBP.

If you are unfamiliar with Lancashire it is God's own county in the NW of England.

These look good, but I'm interested in what it looks like with other image ratios such as 4:3 and 16:9

Also interested in the CA, any chance of some full pixel edge shots of things like the tree branches?

That's coz I phoned them yesterday and asked them their price - they didn't think it was out yet, and got onto the case double quick when they realised it was in stock in other shops! They said they should have stock in on Monday.

a couple of samples taken with the new panasonic 8mm fisheye. will be using this lots more this week, so shall post more samples.
Holla Anthias!

It's curious to look at a picture and get an instant hit of proximity. Checking your profile confirmed you're a close global neighbour. :)
Have fun with that lens, it will have a lot to give you! ;)

Arrrghhh... I'm very jealous! I had a pre-order with Amazon US from June 1 and they told me I would receive it between July 7 and July 28. Inevitably, on July 28 they sent me an update saying I can expect it between August 23 and September 15. I gave up yesterday and ordered one from Japan on eBay... hopefully I'll have it next week. Anyway, nice sample shots... they're making me want this lens even more!

I just got mine today!

I did a quick test between the Panasonic and Olympus and the Panasonic seems a lot sharper!!!!

There is a lot of purple fringing on the Oly, I have not noticed this much before so that's kind of strange.
For this test I used a G2 and tested in raw.
Sharpening and noise reduction were set to 0 in Lightroom.

The next weeks I will do some more testing and post photos.

My conclusion, E3 vs G2 with the same lens:

G2 picture is sharper and has more detail then E3

G2 with pani 8mm vs G2 with oly 8mm:

Panasonic 8mm is sharper (especially at f3.5 and f4) and the colour is much more vibrant and has more contrast.

Settings were:
iso200, awb, raw, mf, set to A priority
In lightroom no sharpening and no noise reduction.

I am also very interested in this lens, keep posting images people
