I think fuji may have lost the plot with this one. http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/s/finepix_s2800hd/

I dont think the sensor can really handle anymore pixels. I've got the s2000hd which is only 10mp and the IQ is ok. Not wow just ok. DPR really didnt rate the newer 12mp s2500hd so why have fuji gone up even more. I was actually hoping they would bring out a EXR version of these smaller super zooms. oh well .

It is ALL about marketing with Fuji today. They can't sell a camera with good IQ, Fuji can only sell a camera if it has great specs. 30 times ZOOM! ISO3200!! 14 MP's!!!

Or gimmicks:

Pet Detection!! Smile Detection!! Blink Protection!!! Pro Focus!!

Well the same applies to just about all the makers..sadly it's all about mostly gimmicks and big stickers and a lot less about delivering a quality product.

Can't say I'm happy about it but what ya gonna do? Nothing you can.

It's sad to see Fuji go down this road..but then they are all at it so they are doing nothing different to other makers (That's actually part of the problem I think..copycat stuff all around)

Few have the guts to stand and do their own thing.

BUT

Folks seem happy to buy 10mp higher end compacts with raw such as the S90 and LX-3 and in big numbers too so I'd have to question just why companies feel the need to pixel pump to this degree.

Unfortunately, Fuji seems to have left this market as well.

OR:

"Why the companies do not feel the need to put these very same sensors in a serious, dSLR-like handling & fast processing bodies, and behind some decent & fast, manual zoom lens?".

Especially companies like Fujifilm, who do not have any other higher model / standard to cannibalize, if properly executed that one, only other makers' market share to tap & chew on?

I for one certainly have no idea why!
