FZ38 Canyons and National Parks. Episode 3

Thanks Heather.

With my LX3 I usually back off on most settings and post op to my liking after, but looking at these you can't fault what the camera is doing with it's own program.

okay, thx for clarification :D Do you think you could upload some original-sized pictures, next to the shrinked version? I´d just like to see how the image-quality holds up when it´s at its original size.

I had no say in the matter, as I was an 11 year old kid when my parents decided to uproot and move to Texas in 1979. I hope one day to be able to return to the state of my birth, colorful Colorado!

Hi Heather. So sorry you picked up a virus. I cannot print what I think of people who write these things. Your shots are gorgeous, as usual. Start saving for the new FZ100 so we can see what it can do in your capable hands. Looks enticing, and I'm once again excited about possibly adding an FZ to my camera bag. This model looks more interesting to me than upgrading my D80 to a D90. Think I may get the FZ100 and wait for Nikon to come out with a small body full format camera.

Another great set. Me thinks there's a Beatles song about the first shot... Second and third shots get my vote but all great.

Virus distributors - quite like the application of the traditional hanging, drawing and quartering for punishment - no paracetamol allowed...

Thank you Vandyu, just looked at the FZ100, what a pity it hasn't a manual zoom, I would have had one if it had, the swivel screen is a plus, but the manual zoom on the FZ50 is great for aircraft the FZ38 with electronic zoom just isn't as good for that.

I like the manual zoom feature as well. For that matter, I'm unhappy that my manual metering/manual zoom Nikon lenses won't meter on my D80 because I'd like to use them. Granted I could do it the old fashioned way--handheld light meter or Sunny 16. Guess I'm too lazy and spoiled. I'm hoping the FZ100 turns out better than many people are saying with regard to IQ. New camera announcement day is always a mixed bag of posts! Love, hate, not FZ60, etc.

The more I see of the Fz38 from the baton of the masters around here, including you HeatherV, the more I appreciate how much this camera has moved the quality of the super zoom forward. I could have scratched the lizard on the chin, very realistic. :D

A rare visit for me on this forum, thinking of buying new camera for my wife and have been unsure what to get, your images have made the choice easy, very good results indeed, thanks for posting.

Heather,

Very nice images.

Can you tell me what camera settings were used for those shots? Were they sharpened in-camera or post processed?
