60D announcement on Wednesday.

July seems a little early for an announcement by Canon for a product upgrade. These usually come in late August or more often in early September. In fact, Canon has not made a single product announcement in the month of July since it introduced the Canon PowerShot A85 in July 2004.

However, the given the long wait between the 50D and the 60D, perhaps Canon will make another exception. Here's hoping they will! :)

A Q. almost as big is how will it stack up against N's replacement for the D90 ? Who will be seen by most as the better unit ...D90 II, or the 60D ? My guess is they will be rather close, but I just hope C. learned a lesson and has not been complacent like they were 3 yrs ago.

A wednesday? Canon seems to announce on either Tuesday or Thursday. And July seems too early unless they want to make more of a splash with having 3 different dSLR announcements this 2nd half: 60D, T1/2000D, and 1Ds4.

IMO, this is only a factor for first-time camera buyers. Although some people switch from C to N and vice-versa, in the absence of a compelling reason (like Canon's dominance in high-ISO quality for the first seven years of this century),the vast majority stay with their chosen brand.

For example, when Nikon introduced the D3 and D300, they not only closed the high-ISO gap with Canon, they nosed ahead. But how many Canon users jumped ship because of this? I believe Nikon sales surged mostly among (formerly frustrated) long-term Nikon users, many of whom already had sizable Nikon lens collections.

Canon will wait for Nikon to announce the D90 replacement and then Canon will announce something with more mega-pixels.

Usually on a Friday. :)

The numbers 2 and 4 are bad luck.

This is great. I love baseball trade rumors but camera release rumors are even better :)

This is my first post here, but I've been reading this forum for months now. There might be something to this Wednesday announcement. I've been watching prices for 50D's for quite a while now waiting for them to drop and just today I see that Adorama has listed a Grey market body only for $799.00. I don't recall ever seeing that listing before.

Among all of the feature set rumors I've seen, I like the one on northlight-images dated 7/11, which shows 19 AF Points, rather than 9. All the other specs and features look good too. My 40D has serious mileage on it, so I don't expect it to keep running flawlessly too much longer. If the 60D looks like what this particular rumor shows, and if the price is well below the 7D, the 60D will be very compelling.

What do they mean by "grey market"? What's the difference between regular one? Is it safe to buy it? Or should I get normal one?

But Tuesday is not 2 and Thursday is not 4. Just like IV is not 4 (1D Mark IV). Go do some digging, they do Tuesday and Thursday.

Friday is a poor day for announcements since of all the days of the week, that would be the day most people would pick for a vacation day.

Grey market is for the EU or Asian market, therefore there is no USA warranty. Adorama usually will honor the same warranty as canon for grey market items. Call them to make sure.

If the rumours are right!..Can't see much difference between the 60D and 7D really...

I think Canon is more likely to release an 8D by 2011 than a 60D in 2010.

Why not get the 7D today instead of waiting for something that is not certain, such as the rumored 60D?
