Why would I replace my D90?

I love my D90. It takes great photos and it feels really good in my hands. I pick it up and it makes me want to go out and take photos! (I don't care about the video too much.)

It has had generally very good reivews. There's been no firmware upgrades that I know of. It has held its price remarkably well. It is still a good camera, yet rumours indicate it is being replaced.

So what would I like improved? Well, weather proofing of the body probably. A live-view that works like the Sony one, faster live-view focussing in particular. Video that has auto-focus. Not too much else that I can think of...

How much would I be prepared to outlay for these improvements? Well right now, nothing. I'd rather spend my spare cash on a new pocket camera like the EX-1 or smaller.

If I were a professional, I'd be going full-frame I suppose. But I am not and right now I am married to my D90. Til death us do part...

You have a great camera.... enjoy it!

The only thing that I think should be (will be) improved is video and, maybe, its live view. They will probably up the MP a bit, give it a higher resolution LCD and do some other minor changes of course.

The D90 is already being cleared at some stores so we should know what´s coming pretty soon!

Never understood the point of creating threads to support your purchase, when no one was even challenging it.

The "rumors" of it being replaced are more like $150 price drops listed as "clearance".

Well, I didn't need to support my product (read consumer object) purchase". I have been happy with the comfortable relationship I have had with my camera for well over a year. Way past needing to justify this to anyone, unless they ask. And in fact a number of people have asked me recently whether I would recommend the D90. If anybody has challenged this relationship it is Nikon by telling me it is over the hill. This led to my musings....

Hmm, seems a bit more than this....

I got mine and I am absolutely love it too! Now, I have the urge to get tons of lenses! Got the 50mm f/1.8 AF-D and I find it really hard to take that lens off the body; in love with that one too. The only real features to talk about for the successors of the D90 will be more MP/better low light performance. However, I think that there is a practical limit on DX sensors and it won't go all that far from where the D90 is at this point already.

Thats my point... how much more would anyone need to see that it's not a rumor.

If they would take the D3 sensor, cut it down to dx size and pop it in the D90, then I would replace mine in a minute. Not sure what else might make me jump.
