Does anyone know when and how much the D30's were when they first came out and when they first came out.

I thought I saw a new one the other week for £1499 D30
Do NOT want to buy using Ebay

I am trying to see if the D60's will hold at £1800 or if they will reduce in value before christmas - I can pick up a used D30 for £999 from Park cameras in the UK or get a D60 on 9 months interest free for £1800
Not sure what to do........

I believe they were in the neighborhood of $3600 US when they first hit the streets around Nov. of 2000. I paid $2350 at B&H in July of 2001.

Try WestBase in Regent Street , LOndon he offered me one brand new for £1300 last month - but I already had one.

Still don't feel that the D60 is that much better to justify the extra money.

I go a 70-200 F$L for the difference and still feel thta it adds more to my photographs than 3 megapixels and some minor improvements.

The basic camera features and construction is still very average compared to my EOS 3. But it is digital!

Yes. They first "came out" in the UK in December 2000, almost two years ago. I got mine on 18 December and it was one of the first available. I paid £1,790.51. I ordered the camera on 16 October 2000 and paid for it (in advance) on 3 November.

The retail price was £2,200 at that time. At the start of 2001 the first high-street bodies were on sale at Jessops and similar places with ticket prices at this level. That pricing was held by some high-street shops until the D60 announcement.

To be clear: I got mine pretty early and I got it at a price which probably wasn't beat through the commerical life of the product. All I did was shop around, and I'm doing the same with the 1Ds. The D30 came from here:

Your call. But nothing's free... if they're offering "interest free credit" then you could get it for less for cash, end of story.

They started started shipping in low volumes the first of October 2000, I got mine the second week of November for around US$1950, as I remember. The D30 should be discounted now as it's not a current Canon model. I'd make sure I did get a NEW one, and not a return or refurb. If you are going to do any Cropping, the extra pixels of the D60 would be worth it. If your lens is always filled, then the D30 might make sense.

Thanks Gary I was wondering about a second hand D30, I think that if I was to go for the D30 it would be better to go for a new one. The price of the D60 I am sure will hold and maybe get a better bundle deal, I reacon they will stable about £1700-1800 and hold there.

Becaude I only have the 6900 at the moment i tend to zoom in but the zoom is pretty limited and the quality is not that great. doing cropping on the zoomed picture and enlarging is not good either so I think that I would wait a bit longer and go for the D60 with the 28 - 135IS and a 50mm

I think it will be well worth the wait - I will possibly go for the interest free credit option maybe next month and check to see if they do a price match.

Thanks for your opionions

until they are ready to launch a replacement model. At Christmas you will probably see 1G HDs thrown in or a rebate but then with them in such short supply that wouldn't even make much sense.
