G3 Review

I don't know if I should even bother writing anything in this
thread... But what heck... Just for the fun of it I could speculate
that the drop in image quality has to do with the competion.
I was in preview mode and meant to press the "edit"-button but I guess I'm too tired or something... I meant to write "what the heck" instead of "what heck" and "competition" instead of "competion"

yes, I am curious too, why would the image quality drop to 8? are
we going backwards?
I don't know if I should even bother writing anything in this
thread... But what heck... Just for the fun of it I could speculate
that the drop in image quality has to do with the competion. It has
gotten tougher to acheive an 8,5 rating. The fact that the G2 had
an 8,5 rating and the G3 gets an 8 does not necessarily mean that
the G3 has worse image quality than the G2. I don't really care
though - I'm keeping my black G2 anyway, and I don't intend to buy
the G3.
Not that I'm trying to legitimize this thread, but...

I agree. The image quality of the competition has improved since the G2. The Nikon 5700 images are pretty darn good. But the G3 has many other advanges over the 5700.

I think the debate of metal vs. plastic is silly in the context of durability. If plastic is anything but metal, such as graphite, carbon, etc., then I'm in favor of it when there is no sacrifice to longevity. Unless everyone wants to get noticed at the airport with their shiny new, metal camera. Puhleeze.

Ever check out the predominant materials used in the Tour de France, Formula One racing? It ain't metal baby! If you prefer metal for aesthetic reasons say so and dispense with the durability issue. To do otherwise reveals ignorance.

Well said.

I just spoke with Phil and he advised his server is down and is not able to upload the review. The good news is that the review WILL include a full set of sample pictures.

Go to bed and come back tomorrow.

S45 review will be posted on Friday.

So,
If the server is down...how can we view the dpreview site...?

Waiting for intelesting responce....

Sorry Peter, but I have a strong feeling that if it was true, Phil would not let you post that information here; the thread would have been deleted right away. I may be proven wrong tomorrow but that would be very untypical of Phil.

'Night.

I wonder if it is a technique to increase page hits on Tuesday and Friday.

All he's doing here is taking a guess. 50/50. If he happens to guess right, then he'll say "see, I told you so". If he does this enough, his guess may coincide with the date Phil will post his G3 review ;) Of course Phil's review of the G3 WILL include a full set of sample pics (duh). He can only post a complete review (which includes sample pictures and ratings) of a production G3. Don't even need much thinking to figure that one out if you've been on this site long enough ;)
