I own a Sony A200 and I just upgraded from my kit lens (sony dt 18-70) to the "big beercan" 75-300 (the "new" model). The question is: how much difference is in the smoothness of the zoom ring between the two lenses? I'm asking cause the zoom ring on my beercan seems a bit stiff; is not like that of the kit lens (sorry, I have no other lens to compare it to) but still, if I apply enough pressure it works fine. Is it normal on a 10 year old tele? I should say that the lens looks GREAT, no marks on it, no scratches, the blades works well; they seem like they've been barely used. Maybe I'm a bit too picky about this but I just want to be sure.
Thanks a lot!
Cheers!

welcome to our forum. First of all there should be a noticeable difference in the two lenses because of the size and weight. there is a difference between smooth and force required.. the BBC should still be smooth but it should require noticeably more force

So I suppose they are ok...I really don't think that it's something wrong with them, they look like new...I guess it's due to not being used for such a long period of time.

Take some photos with it and post them here..

This is one of the test pictures I shot. The blades seems to work fine and the AF also.

My pleasure!

So, you think they are ok, right? In the end, I think is common for the old zooms to be a little stiffer than their newer "brothers".
