My DCS Pro 14n came with firmware version 4.5.1. I downloaded a copy of version 4.5.9 Beta from the Kodak web site but haven't upgraded the camera yet.

What improvements should I expect? Are there any risks inherent in using a Beta version?

Hi Colin,

You need v5.4.9 and it is NOT a Beta version but latest ever issued.

I will see if I have this somewhere amongst my downloads and will post a link for you - but as going out in a few minutes, perhaps someone else will do this before I get back.

It was some time back when I did this (Nigel used to frequent this Forum and did a lot for Kodak DSLR users but he seems to have disappeared as several tries to contact him have failed = he was The Signatory).

Hasta luego - I'll be back :-P

Thanks Boris. I noted the 5.4.9 is shown as BETA - I certainly don't remember it as such when I got from Nigel.

Anyway - whatever - it has worked fine on my 14n for past couple of years, so OK to install.

One point is the 14n drains the battery if left in after a shoot. The 5.4.9. did not fix that so OP may like to note that.

Hi zone8

My 14N eats batteries like there is no tomorrow. A charged battery last for about 200 shots which is ok by me since I bought a bunch for $9.99. A charged battery left in the 14N lasts about two days (without taking any shots), and I stopped buying the internal battery...internal battery longevity seems to depend on which brand I purchase. I just leave a charged battery in the 14N all the time.

I though that because kodak has never officially published 5.4.6 or 5.4.9, they all "Beta" on the newer version other than 5.4.1.
Dose any one know are there 5.4.9 NON BETA and BETA version?

Thanks to everyone who replied. I have now installed 5.4.9.

Just reviving this old thread because I bought a DCS Pro 14n.

Can anyone tell me if the russian link mentioned here provides realiable firmware updates, of can anyone point me to a trusted download link for firmware versions later than 5.4.1?

Where can I buy the batteries for under $10.00?

Well, I did get the download links for both 5.4.6 and 5.4.9 and first installed FW-update 5.4.6, Works perfectly smooth, but since I have no previous experience with the DCS I couldn't tell you if there are any significant improvements over 5.4.1.
