Steve Huff NEX3,EP2,X1 comparisons.

Around 3x the price of a NEX if I remember correctly. Maybe more than that.

Ridiculous comparison.

I agree it's odd; the lenses they are testing vary widely in terms of effective focal length.
You would not expect them to be comparable in performance.

A rose by any other name is still a chicken.

He shoots different lenses at different angles to the subject and can't even manage to focus them at the same point -- what is the point of the crops? The guy is a fool for sure if he even calls it a "comparison".

Steve's credibility must be called into question when he posts an under-exposed NEX picture & then blames the camera !

OK it may be a problem if buttons can be accidentally pressed but once the mistake is discovered the proper action would be to take the photo again. What's that expression about a workman & his tools ?

It is a very silly job here is doing with the comparisons. There is no doubt he is going to try to make the X1 appear to be the best no matter what comparison he does. Since it's inception nobody has tested the X1 camera and gave it rave reviews for image quality.

He is a Leica guy with a lot of Leica fans visiting his website and making money off this stuff, nothing more nothing less.

These low quality tests with the NEX is simply to bring more people to the website who are interested in the new camera and to keep a smile on the face of the Leica guys - when surprise, surprise, he declares Leica the winner.

One of the first things I did after I received my NEX-5 18-55mm was to take a few pics to compare with those taken with a Nikon D80, D40 and a few lenses (previous equipment). My test is using a tripod, delayed shutter and take photograph a 25 ft tape ruller and examine the textures and text for sharpness.

I was very pleased with the results and satisfied that the NEX-5 produces images as sharp as the $150 and $350 Nikkor lens I was comparing it to in my stupid little test. No prints or anything like that, just a subjective test that I was pleased with.
For a kit lens, Nex 18-55 seems pretty good to me so far, but I haven't managed to get subjects into the corners of the frame. I'll have to keep working on that. ;-)

Start a new thread and post all these samples with cameras/lenses.

Here is a comparison taken from an impartial review I have combined the NEX and the X! images side by side. The two columns to the left are the NEX images JPG followed by RAW conversion and the two columns to the right are the X1 with JPG and RAW.
