Hi, I just bought a second hand c-8080 and it seems to reset things like metering and file setting every time it's turned on and off.

Anybody have any ideas on how it possible to set the camera to store these config. settings.

Many thanks, Hugh

Hugh, I am a fellow C8080 wz owner, however I do not have an answer to your question. This is really a fine camera; I hope you don't get discouraged and sell it. I can give you a link that might have an answer for you. It is: http://myolympus.org/8080/#MemoryCards . Allthough the link says memory cards just scroll up; it is a great resource on the camera. Good luck with your C8080.

Regards,

Hal

Page 145 of the fine manual discusses the All Reset option (set it to false so the camera does not reset the settings).

If the settings are reset only when you change the battery, it is likely that the internal capacitor that keeps the camera powered during battery changes is shot, and you need to either live with it, or you could hunt up the AC adapter and use it when changing batteries.

Hello Hugh,

You've bought a nice camera, have a lot of fun with it.

If you look at page 145 and 146 of the reference manual you will read how to turn off the All Reset Setting that will cause the camera to return to the default settings every time you switch off the camera.
Good luck.
Kind regards,

Frank

Hopefully the 8080 is still doing wonders in your hands.

Michael, I really enjoy the camera and I thank you for sending it to me. I use it often. After a year of using it, I am still amazed by its capabilities. It is truly a fine bridge camera. How are you doing with your DSLR?

I have two main cameras now, the workhorse (E-3) and the small fun fling (E-P2). The problem with the 8080 was since I had similar sized DSLRs there just wasn't reason to pick it up, and a nice camera like the 8080 deserves to be used. So, I'm glad you are still using it.

I just took 600 or so pictures with the E-3 at a small renaissance faire two weeks ago that I need to whittle down to a more manageable size, and shot 2 hours or so of video with the E-P2 (I was the official photographer for the faire). We are having the director over for supper this Saturday, and I need to finish up the processing, so I can give him the pictures and a DVD.

It is a tribute to the design and quality of manufacture of the C-8080, that so many are still in use and loved in 2010. I think it just was a very unique and special camera.

Here is a C-8080 sunset to share with all.
