I’m about to go into a studio for the first time next week-end (glamour shoot) with my D-60, can anyone offer advise on camera settings (P TV AV etc) I think I read somewhere that the D-60 defaults at 1/200 sec when attached to studio flash. I’m quite familiar with using the D-60 outdoors but the studio seems a little daunting to me at the moment (maybe unnecessarily so?) I’m taking 16-35L, 28-70L, 70-200L IS and 100-400L IS lenses with me. So all bases should be covered with any focal length issues. I would be grateful if any of you guys can offer any advise on using studio lighting/flash etc.

I use a D60 all the time in the studio.....

Shoot on Manual mode

meter your flash with a hand held light meter using Incident method of measurment

set you aperature at the amount of light measured from the Main light

shutter speed less than 1/200 FASTEST sync w flash for the D60
unless using one of Canon's ex type flash units instead of studio lighting
we usually use 1/90 of sec for the shutter speed.

I have a detailed section of Pro Tips for Photographers
that covers Portrait lighting

Geoff,

Further to Steven's advice, which is right on, I can't imagine you will need more than your 28-70 and perhaps the 70-200. You definitely won't need the 100-400 and unless your shooting a group the 16-35 won't be necessary either. Shoot at 50-85 if you have the space and focus on your lighting.

Good luck and show us your results.

David
