I made this HDR from processing one image using Artizen HDR process program. Not perfect but looks decent from here. I sort of like it and hope you do, too.

At first I thought this one looked a little overdone, but then I started seeing it in a kind of abstract way, which takes on an artistic impression of the scene as the eye would see it. Interesting ideas these for further experimenting I think.

Yes for a fact this image could be improved on in HDR. Yet from a single image as you are well aware it is not so easy unless someone wishes to use a faux HDR which I prefer NOT to use. I real problem I notice are the artifacts in the ocean which are most bothersome. Yet they were not so bothersome that I thought I should redo this image or put a lot more time into it. I thought of it exactly as you describe to be perfectly honest. So I thank you very much for viewing and commenting BrianJ. Know that I appreciate hearing from you and thanks for viewing.

It definitely needs more experimentation.

Gary, I quite like this shot and where you've taken it. For me, it has an artistic feel that is very appealing.

Thanks very much for your kind comments. I know with a lot more diddling around I could have made is much nicer. But I thought this was adequate to show what can be done and how it gives the scene a bit of a change artsy sort of.

Hope all is well there with you both,

Kind regards, Gary N W SFO

Hi Gary,

I for one do like HDR, I know that many would criticize it for "unnatural" look, but I kinda like it - for the same reason I like B&W photos - they look different to what eye would normaly see...

I like that shot of yours!

Regards,

Thanks for viewing and commenting on my image. Please know that I appreciate hearing from you. I am glad that you like the image.

I currently use a stand alone Artizen HDR program. I have my photoshop loaded now with plugins so I found it no distraction to use this Artizen as a stand alone.

I possibly could have done this a little better but I liked it the way it was so I left it alone. There are some slight artifacts and noise in the ocean part of the image but it was not bad enough to cause me to do it over again.

Hope you are well Jim and thanks again for your comments.

Nor is fog rain, but we've been down that path.

I think people are being overgenerous. This shot has far too much chroma noise in the clouds and shadow halos around the clouds. Those halos are about the only thing that is heavy having to do with the clouds. So much false precision.

I thank you most of all for stopping by to view my image and comment. I am glad you like the image.

I feel exactly as you do by the way. So long as whatever is done to the original image is not overdone it can certainly enhance and image. And further I agree with you 100% about how nice a well done black and white image can turn out if processed well.

I will look up some of your shots Bushi and once again thanks.

...but frankly, I like that image for what it is, just for being over-emphasized comparing to "normal" shot of that same scene.

A bit like being on acid - reality seems more interesting :D

Gary - I do not post too much images, really, as my gallery shows :). I'd rather enjoy the learning experiences here, and if I post at all ,it is to ilustrate my point.

For your information I know exactly what you mean. Seems to be that when you decide to post some images to prove your point they will be very very interesting indeed.

As for me know once again I appreciate your comments and viewing my image.

Insofar as dotbalm is concerned he has been on my ignore list for quite awhile and I do not read a thing he says. I have pretty well and clearly told him accordingly, too.

He is here not to display any of his own images but to harass and bait or flame other's. So what he says one way or the other means not a thing to me or anyone else that I am aware of. In most cases he is typing to himself! lmao

I wish you all the best and keep coming to the Fuji forum as your time permits.

Hi Gary, I love the ocean surf. If only the cloud shadows were a bit less it would be a perfect composition, the type of scene that is among my favorites. Good try.

Here is the way I see this photo. It is originally a very small file size @ only 6mp. When you try to change it over three variations from only one file it is always hit and miss. Like I mentioned above. It is what it is and nothing more or less. I could not improve on it without processing it all over again. There again I mentioned I felt it was decent enough to post. And please note that I opted NOT to use a Faux HDR single image program.

Thanks for viewing and giving me your honest appraisal which I always appreciate from you.
