Oly P-400

Could someone email the curve for photoshop?

Thanks

You can install anywere. You just have to tell PS were to look
when you click on the "Load..." button.

I have had my Olympus P400 for a couple of weeks now. I also am the
proud owner of the Cannon G2. Togeather, they make beautiful
prints! I have learned how to resize a file downloaded from my
camera in PS7 by setting the dpi to 300 and the size to 8x10 or 4x6
ect., touching up my print if needed, and the resulting print turns
out great. Am I missing any step(s)? I would be grateful if someone
could point me to a "profile" for the P400 and a couple of actions
as well.

Thanks!!

Brad
Someone was kind enough to send me Roger's curve. I recieved a file
named P400_v2_.flt and one named P400correction.acv. I use
Photoshop 7.0 and am not sure where to install the file or which
one to install. I have a lot to learn!!

Any help would be great!

Thanks for all of the kind responses!!

Brad
Thanks!

I went poking around in Photoshop and discovered that I had to
first be in the "curves" dialoge box then "load" the file named
P400corrections.acv. I noticed that the "green" channel was altered
a bit. I could not see much of a diff. on screen but when I hit
"print"...WOWWW! what a difference! I guess there is hope for me
afterall!

If this is not the correct way to do this, please let me know...

Thanks again!

Brad

Can someone email the curve to me at [email protected]. Based upon
the feedback I'm hearing I will purchase the P400. Thanks for the
great insight.
Well, thanks to this forum and the kind responses, I think I am on my way. I have been in my office for two days now printing anything and everything I can get my hands on. My family havent seen me and my wife just leavs food at the door! I love this printer! I have only one more question, Am I limited to Oly paper only? or is there any other paper that will work as well? I will email the curve to those that have requested it today.

Thanks again to all that have posted here!

Hello

I have had the p400 for about 6 months or more and am very pleased with It...it looks like I can be more pleased with it based on the postings regarding the curve action..

I would appreciate it very much if someone would e-mail it to me at [email protected]
thanks
Elaine

Can I use this curve with a Mac OS X system and photoshop 7?

If so, if someone could send it along?

[email protected]

Thanks

I hate to be an idiot, but you folks were kind enough to email me the photoshop curve and it worked great. In my efforts to upgrade my computer it went poof and I lost the file. Could someone be kind enough to email it again.

Thanks

Steve

Here is the link to the printer review completed a couple of weeks ago my members of this forum. Can someone please comment on the poor performance of the P400. See the "Recent Samples" section for the P400.

http://www.thenichols.net/Printer_Eval/

P400 pictures look too soft, understaturated, and appear to have inaccurate color rendition according to the samples included in the review.

If anyone wants my curve/s just drop me an e-mail I will try to send them by return, but as I work about 100 hours a week (yes some photographers are very busy!) It might take a day or two. Tell me if you want Photoshop, Qimage or both. Pass them amongst yourselves with pleasure but please include the "instructions". It is very important to ensure there are no icc profiles at work when printing with the P400.

Someone mentioned "unsaturated" prints in a recent test, once you overcome the "green cast" the colours are spot on and accurate.

Roger

Ok.. I have tried the curve. It is better, but the color is still coming out a shade of blue/green. This is when doing b/w prints. Color looks fine in color, or just not noticable in color. Even playing with the gama... I cannot get a simple b/w print.

Please advise...

Roger,

The curve only cures the magenta cast. Your problem sounds more like a workflow or profile issue.

Are you on a Mac or PC? What program do you use to print to your P-400?

how do you get 5x7 prints? do u cut the photos by yourself from 8x10 photo paper, would they look ok or they would have jagged edges?
thanks.
The Olympus America website has information on the new firmware
update for the P400. The update enables the printer to print two
5x7 photos on one sheet of page. Unfortunately, the firmware update
requires that the printer been mailed in to Olympus along with $90.
This seems very high and unfair to me.
Yes, it is but it is only so you can do the prints without a
computer. Not needed by most of us. I love my P-400 and only wish I
had bought for $500.00 rather than $1000.00. Anyway, I use it all
the time and can set the size of prints useing various software.
Again, I believe you only need to send it in if you need to have
the 5 X 7 without a computer....

Jimmy

I never tried the CF print method. Since the p-400 only prints on A4 paper the most economical way to print 5X7 is to do two to a page. I created a template in Photoshop to do this but you can do the same thing with any imaging software.
