I just subscribed to Digital SLR Photographer after reading one of the more recent magazines and found it to be very helpful. I was wondering what magazines you guys and gals would recommend to check out or subscribe to for someone interested in how-to's , as well as equipment reviews.

I am loving Digital Photo Pro magazine.
Beware...afterwards, you will be inclined to go to a D700.

The only subscription I have is Outdoor Photography.

However I periodically pick up various magazines depending on some of the features they happen to be covering in a given issue.

I regularly read the British Amateur Photographer magazine. Brilliant! Heaps of practical advice, nice photographic tours of places in England, learned how to do digital cross-processing and how to make a digital ND filter from that mag too.

Hmmm, what shall I do in my signature? Outline the scores of lenses and camera bodies I have to make people think I'm a better photographer? Or maybe some inciteful pearl of wisdom from some revered and oft quoted dead photographer so that people know I'm well read on the topic?
Decisions decisions, maybe I'll just leave it blank.

Make it 3 for Outdoor Photography,,

I do Popular Photography and Outdoor Photography. Tried Digital SLR Photography...but dropped it after a year.

I prefer Shutterbug.
Lots of good info from new products, handy software and how to's.

In one of the recent issues they listed a great free program called image resizer which does exactly that. You can choose to resize and entire folder of pictures and either make copies or replace the originals any size you like. I usually copy a folder of pics that I want to post online and resize to 800x600 with one click.....cool!

magazines. Who needs 'em when they are generally so far behind the times. DPR forums, that's all you need.

All (semi) kidding aside, I used to read DPP (Digital Photo Pro, mentioned above), but it got too "PRO" for me, and still somewhat repetitive. There is one mag that I do enjoy picking up from time to time:

Photo Life (Canadian)

Not because the gear re/previews are all that hot, but they do give good exposure to the little guy/gal (not just Canadians) and are often rife with contests and challenges. Lots of pretty pictures to look at.

peace.

'I remember when the days were long
And the nights when the living room was on the lawn:
Constant quarrelling, the childish fits,
And our clothes in a pile on the ottoman;
All the slander and doublespeak
Were only foolish attempts to show you did not mean
Anything but the blatant proof
Was your lips touching mine in a photobooth.'
