I am deciding between silver and black. I wanted black but then I started thinking about nighttime like what if you put your camera down somewhere at night where there is little or no light and you have no flashlight or any light source. You would then not be able to find it. Silver gives off some reflection so it might be easier to find.

But what about when you're skiing or at the beach and you put that silver camera down on the snow/sand. You'll have a hard time finding it. On the other hand, the black camera will be quite obvious.

If you had something like this, you'll be pretty well set for any occasion.

I'd say the key here would be not to set your camera down somewhere that you might loose it, leave it or damage it.

...except for espionage or at resale time! :)

..... to solve your dark-finding problem, paint with fluorescent, highly atomically charged paint, then you can either see it in the dark or use a Geiger counter. :-P

The photograph isolates and perpetuates a moment of time: an important and revealing moment, or an unimportant and meaningless one, depending upon the photographer's understanding of his subject and mastery of his process. -Edward Weston

It's either black, black or black for me. No interest in anything Henry Ford (allegedly) couldn't muster. ;)

If looking around for your camera in the dark is something you do really really often, I suspect that would be one of your main criteria in selecting a camera, indeed. I hope for you that this is not the case, though. But just in case it is: Pentax has a camera with Swarovski lenses that probably reflect enough in all directions when you point a torch at it.

Silly question, really. Cameras are for photography, not for looking around for them in the dark. Do you buy everything with that criterium ? :)

I don't know about anyone else, but I kind of like it....lol. It would fit in well at the St. Louis Cardinals games...lol

Exactly, and any color other than "black", from my experience, also tends to attract more attention; and, I prefer drawing the least attention possible while I am out shooting --- especially, when upmost discretion is called for.
