Warbirds over Arizona

Great aircraft! I like that you chose to use Shutter preferred to shoot these and hence got the nice blurry props to show action and movement nicely.
Where did you shoot these? I am down in the heat of the valley and would have possibly used this airshow as an excuse to drive up to cooler climes!

YOu've made great use of good light. The 2nd shot (of the P-38) is lovely. Nice to see the P-51D and P-40 together too. I'm envious of the light and the P-38. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Jim. It was challenging getting prop blur (which I definitely wanted!) and keeping the aircraft sharp while they were making these fast, LOW level passes.
I got plenty of soft images, but did manage to get a few keepers.
The fly-in was in Valle, about 30 miles south of the Grand Canyon. I'm in the valley heat too, and never need much of an excuse to get out of it. It was a great day.

astwood, thank you for the kind words. These shots were from earlier in the day before the light became to harsh.
I've never had the pleasure of seeing...and hearing a P-38 in flight before. The sound is amazing, and the plane is very graceful in the air.

Nice touch to just slightly blur the props giving that sense of motion. Well done!

You hit the prop blur just right. I read about the fly-in at Valle, but couldn't make it. Great job, Bill.

Nice images of some great Classic Warbirds... I like that last image of the P-38, P-40, and P-51. That must have been a sweet sound overhead! I got a taste of much of this at Chino and I'll not miss another...

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Getting that prop blur can be hit and miss, but it is rewarding when I get a few right!
