Anyone ever solve the F200 random blur issues?

Yes, what a weird place for that setting!
It did much better last night, only had about 2-3 OOF shots out of a 100 :)

My worst problem was,... I touched the lens and my shots have a finger smudge lol, I'm such a dork :)
Rorn, when you descibe the mid-range focus uissues, I knew this option was enabled. The F200, despite its tricky handling is my favorite compact, F70 being a very close second!
It's off now, thanks for the tip! Can't wait to try later, thanks Miss Lillianna! :)
Try under the Shooting menu/Power Management/Quick AF

coming late to this discussion but...............
I blasted through @ 10,000 shots with f70

I could depend on it having some 'shaky' shots every day....they were not repeatable but they were related to the IS. I had them on a tripod, handheld, resting on really large stable slabs of granite, marble steps, everywhere. The entire f70 package was such a good group of compromises that I accepted the occasional IS action as part of the price we pay.

FWIW, I also had (to a much lesser extent) the same is issues with the hs10, never with s100fs.

I didn't know the F70 suffered from that too, I guess it must be the IS system. Maybe it shakes opposite of what it should and adds to the vibration, interesting.

should I take it from your replies that you have not suffered this shaky image syndrome?

maybe its me but I've even suffered it with Nikon glass (vr), although rarely, more so with third party lenses. I can consistantly hold my 70-200 2.8 @ 200mm 1/80 sec and get less shakey images with the vr off, the difference is that with the nikon glass this difference requires some serious pixel peeping (blood in the eyes type) where as with the fuji the images look a bit 'jumpy' at 50% or higher.

If you don't ever have this occur I would like to compare settings at some point in time.

Jim, sorry for the brevity of my responses, was short of time :(

I have heard that if one uses a tripod with any IS lens or caera body one should shut the IS off. I have not followed this advice and have seen no ill effect ( but I do not own a decent tripod so perhaps it is just as well I have left it on ;)

If the Fuji is gonna have issues, it being so small and light they will shop fast. I have gone through many images from both little Fuji's and do not see the effect you describe. When I do see motion blur it is my fault; shooting one handed and too quickly in low light or shooting a moving subject. In brief I would blame it on the camera only the operator. I am not blaming you BTW, again I wonder if this is the Quality Control monster rearing its ugly head.
I have been lucky, all my Fuji's have been well sorted out when I got them.

Certainly Jim
