Nikon vs Canon, Why do pros prefer Canon?

I shoot with Canon's because I started off with a Canon AE-1 back in 1978. Then I progressed to the Old F-1, A-1, New F-1, T-90 and then the EOS system in 1987. I have been a CPS member for several decades.

I have used the Nikon F4S but Canon is so comfortable to me like an extension of my right hand that I have no reason to switch.

It also helps that Canon supports me 100% when I need assistance or to borrow equipment. I like that hand holding because if ever my equipment fails me I know Canon will be there to assist me.

Because Canon is sooooo superior. It is the only camera brand capable of delivering professional results. The very look of those white lenses sends all other brands scurrying for cover.

Brands are also sooooo important. And, endless discussions of brands and equipment make such a difference in ones images. Who doesn't tremble with anticipation at the release of the latest 18-55 variable aperture wonder lens.

Only a pro would think otherwise.

I am not going to attempt to speak for anyone else but my choice of switching to Canon (whispered from minolta film cameras) when I went digital over 10 years ago was based on price point and I happen to believe they are both very good brands. I love my white lens on my 5D. I have lots of other lenses that I get more use from and really like the glass in those canon lenses as well. I reckon I would love equivalent equipment from Nikon just as much.

As far as photojournalists working for papers go, unless they are a big paper their cameras these days are pretty crappy. They don't need the resolution and the little papers don't want to buy them equipment. (I live in the country and the paper guy turns up with a point and shoot to take pictures of local sport events! It's a joke)

Troll bait lol! Why even respond to such stupid posts? Well, I guess I've finished all my editing for today and there's nothing on TV. Seriously, give a sports photographer a 1DM4 or a D3s and they'll be happy with either. There is no one better than the other. Personally I think these bodies are getting a little soulless. How about the new Mamiya RZ33, now that's a camera! Well not so much for sports, but I don't shoot sports.

Canon pushed themselves to produce the first low-cost DSLRs, the first FF DSLRs, the first affordable FF DSLR, etc.
Actually, Contax released the first FF DSLR in the form of the Contax N Digital.
