Hi folks.

I like this picture for the light on the organ leaving the remains in more or less darkness.

What s your opinion?
All C&C are wellcome.

regards and fun
Andy

Love it. The only change I would make is to crop out the window in the bottom right corner of the pic.
May be right the window has distracting coulors.

thanks for the comment.

On second thought, because of the strong side lighting, the organ could be formally centered in a vertical crop. In a situation like this I sometimes make a vertical and horizontal version to give me more options in pp.
Thats a good opinion I will play around with it.

Thanks for the hints

Andy

Great picture! As a rather new DSLR owner, I'm still blown away by how well my D90 does with low light!

Well, my two cents is I would crop away a bit of the dark edge on the left and clone out the stained glass window to darkness because I think the arch of the doorway adds some architectural interest. Anne

Very nice picture, my personal preference would have been to initially crop & lighten,but it does lose that dark gothic theme:

After looking at these, i certainly prefer yours, it infers that there is a history in that picture as compared to just a photo of an organ.

I apologize if i PP you picture without asking, am not really familiar with protocol.

You get back c&c to do this or that. But it is difficult to envision the final shot with the changes.

For example, the window on the right. To me, after looking at the cropped version, leaving it in keeps you wanting more. What is through the archway, are there other stained glass windows.

Again, thanks for sharing.

First thanks for all the comments.

@padavid

Thats ok as perceived above is the window on the right bottom perhaps a little distracting.

@pixd90
You see the light gives the picture the mood.

thanks

Beautiful old organ and love the mood provided by the lighting.

I'm not qualified to give C&C, though another poster has posted a slight crop with the window blanked off and I do agree that it has enhanced the picture.

LOVELY shot!

OK, not so purely a hobby.

I really like the light and the overall feel that it gives the image. In general well done!

Like many before me, I was going to suggest cloning out the window at the lower right. The crop option didn't strike me as a good one as the directional quality of the light really lends itself to the aspect ratio you presented the original in. However, after having seen the ad hoc edit where someone removed the window, I have to confess that the lower right of the image becomes perhaps overly heavy.

I'm sort of torn between leaving it as is; the window really does help with the sense of depth and movement across the frame, and suggesting perhaps a selective levels adjustment to make it less bright. The selective adjustment enables you to keep the detail down in that corner (which I really think is a plus), but maybe get it "turned down" a couple of notches so it doesn't stand out so strongly.

I know that's really quite specific for a critique but I found myself struggling with trying to avoid "what I'd have done" thing.

@plesbit
Why should you not be qualified to tell me your opinions?
I saw you got your camera for a longer time as I do.
Its allways good to receive feedback and think things over.
thank you

Although I very much enjoy my photography I am really not into PP to any great degree. Other than minor adjustments in Lightroom to get the balance of the image as good as possible I do little post processing so most of my pictures change little between camera and printing. As a result most of my pictures lack any real "wow" factor, unlike many which are posted on the forums here.

Until that changes I will refrain from criticising other people's work. :)

But you made up your mind about quality of photos.

If you think that a crop on a photo would work better for you this is a sort of critism everybody may think about and decide to be good or not for him and so it may help a little bit.

My picture here is almost out of the box. I am trying to get best when shooting and pp is a tool to enhence if nesessery.
I am happy when there is only one photo from a series of one hundred that pops.
nobudy is shooting first class pictures without exception.

best regards
Andy
