Oh no and there is no replacement. What are all the D700 users going to do?

If this is true maybe those leaving Nikon will make up for those leaving Sony

True information?

Then a new super duper Nikon camera must be around the corner and therefore a super duper Sony camera as well. Both with the same sensor. Great news!

A sony sensor. They are quality leaders again in the APS segment and will be with this sensor in the FF segment as well. Nikon's choice is always the best and can change from camera to camera.

they continue to shoot with there D700's.... like A700 users do.

its simply so stupid to assume you need a new camera every year or two years.

i'm still earning a very decent living with my camera's ....even a 25 years old Film camera is part of that.

...this is so bad imagine those poor people shooting Nikon D700. Now they either have to resort to the gloom of APS-C D300 or break into a bank to get the D3.

This is so harsh

If I were Nikon shooter I would jump to Sony NEX - this is so new and Sony actually pyt two models out. One for primary and one for backup camera. ....and guess what ergonomics and IQ are identical. Only difference is that the backup camera is plastic and looks like backup - is not this cool?

Sony and Nikon reportedly had a falling out. It will be interesting which sensor Nikon will use.
Nikon D700s, using the same non-Sony Nikon sensor as the D3s. But ALSO the d900X?, same form factor as the D700s, but with probably a non-Sony 24-mpx sensor. AND a new D3xs?, using ths same non-Sony 24-mpx sensor, as a replacement for the D3x, which uses Sony's 24-mpx sensor. According to Thom Hogan.

I see where the D3000 body only is discontinued, kit is still available

D300s I'm afraid is much more advanced than the A700, that came out inbetween the A700 and now. D300 already had a few more tricks than the A700 did from the get go.

I don't think that Nikon users feel left behind in comparison to Sony enthusiasts, unless your talking about the crowd that wants a camera under 3k with more than 12mp.

That's kinda like discounting the Sony users who want main sensor LV and video for Sony FF.... aka 'a whole lot of people'

I heard form a good source that Nikon was having financial difficulties.
