Your Dream µ4/3 Kit

Ep-2 and Gf1 (for different purposes)
10mm f2.8 pancake
20mm f1.7 pancake
50mm f2 (probably not a pancake, but sensibly small)

A poor photographer blames his tools.

two lenses i want in order of preference:

7-14
45 macro

I already pretty much have my 'ideal' kit:

GF1
Panasonic 7-14/4
Panasonic 20/1.7
Panasonic Leica 45mm/2.8 Macro

and a SMC-Takumar 50/1.4 for posed portraits

I'd love for Panasonic to make a Micro Four Thirds 150/2, or even a f/2.8 or f/3.5, that would be pretty much all I'd ever need.

Although I'm thinking of getting a Rokkor 500/8 someday, that would make for an interesting safari lens, I think.

I've tried several combos, but this is the perfect kit for me now :

Olympus E-P1 : beautiful jpeg engine Oly colors, great high ISO capabilities, nicely built
Olympus 17mm f/2.8 : my best FL, THE walkaround lens
Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 : fast and sharp, nice for low light work
Carl Zeiss 28mm f/2.8 : wonderful Zeiss look, a real gem, sharp wide open
Olympus ZD 50mm f/2 macro : beautiful bokeh, sharpest lens I've used

I would like only one more lens : a 12mm f/2

Panasonic G2 (I own a G1)
Panasonic 20mm Pancake to walk around/ambient light situations
Panasonic 14-45(42)mm Kitlens
depending on situation:
Panasonic 7-14mm UWW (architecture) or Panasonic 45-200mm (Nature)
For Macro-Work PanaLeica 45mm (still on my wish-list)

At the moment:

E-P2
9-18mm
20mm
50mm 1,8 (must come)

What´s that noise?

From one of the Canon Forums:

'I just came back from my first holiday with the 5D II (I think my wife was there as well). '

Don't you think the two lenses can be seen more often as alternative one with the other?

Ciao!

It would involve some stuff that does not yet exist:

45mm f/1.2 pancake for portraits
Body with built-in evf, smaller than current m4/3 bodies (think NEX5)

Fast and optically great standard zoom (12-60mm f/2.8), of course no bigger than the 14-42 collapsible Olympus lens... (hey: it's a DREAM).

Assuming money was not an issue, but everything else (such as weight), what would you carry with you? And why?
GF1
Panasonic 7-14 ƒ 4 UWA
Panasonic 20mm ƒ
1.7 Walkaround
Leica 25mm ƒ1.4 Portrait/ Misc.
Panasonic 45mm ƒ 2.8 Portrait/Macro

If we talk about a setup, then we talk about system type thing .. that means having the capability to tailor a particular setup for individual need. But as of now Micro 4/3 is not a system that is well system enough. There is the slow kit zoom and a few individual fix focals. None can be termed fast with the exception of the 20mm, and almost all are optically not performing ( bar the 45 macro, but at its price still far worse a deal than the ZD 509 Macro with a MMF-1 adapter )

There is also a matter of the body. This is of course more specific and personbal as between the like of GH1 and eE-Pen which give 2 distinct form factor.

As every new system goes, there is much to await ...

This is a common thinking shared by many in this forum, but that's not the case actually.

In FF, 35mm lenses are considered as moderate wide angle, as 40mm are normal lenses.

The perspective given by a 17mm and 20mm in 4/3 is different, as is the perspective from a 28mm and a 35mm and a 40mm in FF

If I have to take only one lens on a day shooting session with me, it's the 17mm, but other may prefer the 20mm.

The 20mm is perfect for low light and details shots, thanks to it's super sharpness.

Give me a 24 and 85-105mm mild tele and I'm good. The upcoming 28mm is a little wider than I'd like but I'll probably get it anyway. Now bring on the portrait telephoto we don't yet have.

My dream kit is exactly the same as yours, right now I'm halfway there with the 20mm and 45mm. The 7-14 will probably be next. I'd still have to get a four thirds adapter before getting the 25. My F-mount adapter also lets me use my Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 though, which is great for subject isolation.

As far as dreaming of future lenses in the system, I'd really like to see a compact 75mm f/2.

GF1
20mm 1.7
12mm 2.8
matching optical viewfinder for each lens
Artisan and Artist Kobe strap

That's all I need
... although if you'd throw in a ticket to Paris....

Panasonic G4 (2015 model w/ 40x30mm sensor and incredible EVF)
50mm/f2.0
30mm/f2.0
90mm/f2.8

and maybe a 28-90mm/f4 zoom

all weather-sealed and under $4000!

Hey, I can dream, can't I? :)
