Hi,

Fuji offers a quite contradictory camera, called HS10. All issues should be known meanwhile. And the pros as well.

But I am really tired to read over and over again e.g. the warnings of a member that this camera only has a pinhead censor. On the other hand I don't want to press any ignore buttons only to read what is to my pleasure. I like to read different opinions. But more and more it is boring to read things over and over again.

Maybe it is possible to establish a kind of agreement.
  • Everyone accepts which camera another one is owning or prefering.
  • Every opinion should be proved with examples, the good ones and the bad ones. Specially when a possible buyer asks for the best cam.
  • Experts give convenient advices to beginners/amateurs/advanced amateurs how to use a cam the best way instead of telling them what bulls..t they own.
  • There are worse things in the world than HS10 like earthquakes, vulcano eruptions and spoiling oil.
I would be ready to sign something like that. Any improvements?

You don't seem to understand that the root of the problem are HS10 zealots who every two day claim that "my HS10 has as good IQ as your DSLR." or of course the latest one is "my S200EXR is as good as your DSLR at high ISO."

Of course when statements like those are made, people with common sense (who also own DSLR and P&S and Bridge cams) would respond indignantly to such nonsense.

Really? Please show some links where those claims were made every two days. Or even one within the last 10 days. Actually there are some who just can't stop saying that "my camera is better than your HS10". Keeps on beating the dead horse so to speak. That you'll find every few days.

Nams, Ratty and Roy: this is supposed to be a pact about how we go about things because we have all looked quite silly at times so no pointing fingers for one thread.

Improvements to pact:

i) we play nice (This one I defnitely need to improve upon)
ii) When discussing technical merit leave the superlatives out

iii) if critique is not asked for then don't give it, assuming rule ii) is adhered to
iv) let's enjoy ourselves people.
v) no direct comparisons between P&S and dslr unless rule ii) is adhered to
vi) always agree with Kim

PS: scratch rule vi), just teasing Kim.
 
No need for me to show you. The forum is wide open for you to read (and you have, and you've more or less fall on the side of the apologists/fanboys).

If HS10 fanboys didn't make these ridiculous claims, we wouldn't hear so much countertalk on this issue from Ratty and Kim. And hence, there wouldn't have been a need for the OP to propose a peace agreement. Duh.

One thing you learn quickly here at FTF is that the Fan Boys never want an open forum. They want protection from any and all dissent from their Fan Boy ways.

Hopefully, FTF never gets to be that way.
 
Ops have to say something at this point.Generalisation is a bad poison I have not seen many HS10 owners bagging other cameras and I will not name the (very) few who have. But many are rather here to learn and show what they managed to shot. I think good advice is always appreciated as long as it is constructive (not saying the same thing over and over again). The grass is always greener on the other site but some are happy on their site to stay (even so they know it’s not as good as others).

And which claims would that be? Can you be more specific?

Hey count me in as one that will call out BS as what I am doing now. Some people just like to stir things up and feed the fire and yes they are the worst offender. Even worst than those who makes ridiculous claims.

Nonsense can be avoided easily. This is a discussion forum and we should do as that, discuss with civility. Even heated arguments can be discussed with civil.

The good old FTF is gone. Now it's nothing but a camp war. Old subjects gets pulled up, old mistakes are brought up, stones are cast, fires are fed, threads hijacked, names are called, attacks get personal, banning left and right......

I think it's just about that time again for a good slumber.

Like nams said, if the fanboys didn't make outrageous claims, there wouldn't be a heated debated and there wouldn't be a call for peace.

The problem is plain to see. A person starts a thread that anyone could take part in and make suggestions but most are intent on fighting including yourself. Don't you all see how counterproductive it is? I am sure you all do so I then ask why bother particularly in this thread which is about "Peace Agreement"? I think Nic is wasting his/her time and she/he is not alone.

FTF is stuffed with these claims. Anyone claiming not to know this simply is trolling for another slam fest. This is pure trolling.
 
I understand your point and yes I will admit that I do get dragged into these mundane arguments and sometimes is guilty of being a participant. But it takes two to tango and I just call out a BS when I see it. Do you consider those comments above that I replied on as civil participation? Looks more like trolling to me.

You are fairly new here so you must have not much idea what's been going on around here for the last couple of years. Well now you know so welcome to FTF. =)

No dearie. Unless we're in the court of law and the burden of proof is on me, you can look at the HS10 posts yourself.

Actually, I went ahead and did a search for "HS10" and "religious" since I thought that this fanboy claim was hilarious and stuck in my mind (and it's an easy search):

And again, if the fanboys didn't make outrageous claims, there wouldn't be a heated debate and there wouldn't be a call for peace (and therefore this thread wouldn't exist). Not that difficult to understand, is it?
