Probably not the advantage of 7D to shoot landscapes, but anyway it does this perfectly. Used Tokina 11-16 here:

Lovely colours but difficult to make any comments about sharpness etc. I am currently looking into buying a 7D, would it be possivble to send me a RAW, that is non-processed picture of your series, make it the worst one, not trying to steal your pics!

Would really appreciate that!

Cheers

Excellent photo.....Glad you like your 7D.....!!!

I really like it. Seems to be very well composed, and gives a very nice feeling of what being there must have been like.

I can't do this now, I'm on GPRS on Tioman island in Malaysia.
If you still will be interested please write me after 24th June :-)

Thanks all for good replies. I'm just trying myself in night shots, but this one is the probably the best so far.

Tokina is really a good lens, but as most third-party lenses it has some problems with autofocusing. So when you shoot landscapes you should always set it to MF and rotate to infinite, otherwise in 95% cases it will be slightly OOF.

The other interesting usage of this lens is street photography, just set to 16mm and with 7D in most cases it will focus good. Even at evening with 1600 or even 3200 ISO (thanks to LR 3 beta) with 2.8 aperture you can still make good photos :-)

I am from Melbourne too so I relate to this beautiful shot.
Would you like to share with us how you set up this shot?

Sure, ISO200, aperture 1/8, shutter 0.6 sec, at 11mm, used MF.

Colors were a little bit corrected in LR, added gradient to the sky and then corrected wide lens distortions in photoshop to align verticals.

Some complained about too symmetrical composition, but I still don't agree with them :-)
