I seem to be into "blue" flowers this week :)

Here's another with the 105VR. This time a macro 1:1 (6 pack) stack :)

The intention was just to get a good DOF on the pattern area (which is about 14mm deep) at this close distance - not the entire bloom.

6 images shot at f/22, ISO 100 in the studio.

Beautifully done! Lovely flower. Thanks again for sharing.

I like this. Very nice. The color combination and composition works really well.

What kind of lighting did you use?

This is my first post here. I am a big time lurker here, but I signed up just to say "wow" to this photo.

Wow.

Love this photo!

Wonderful shots! I enjoy your colorful close up. Did you use any filter enhancement?

Nope, I never use filter enhancement, nor colour boost neither.
Lighting is my tool.

Very nice image. When you say stacked, did you take several photos with different focus points and combine them to get the depth of focus? If so, what software did you use to combine them?
Hi Robin,

Yes I mean focus stacked.....and I use CS4 to align/blend them.

I've experimented with the various stand alone stack progs (ie: ZF, HF, Combine Z, etc)...and I just find that CS4 does a better overall job, especially when stacking say more than 4-5 images.

Cheers,

KEV

Thanks, very interesting - I actually prefer the non-stacked version, although I like the tighter framing of the stacked photo.

I like the stacked better. In some cases having a small focus area can help draw the eye to the center of interest, and reduce the visual confusion in an image. In this case, I tend to prefer the greater focus range. I think I would have liked to have the very back pedal sharp as well.

I like 'em both. They are slightly different of course, but each one has it's merits.

Stacking isn't a perfect solution or process, and stopping down beyond f/22 also has it's negative points....however, it certainly isn't the nasty diffraction monster that people often make it out to be.

I haven't used a view camera in quite a while - but I'm thinking that the 85mm PC-E T/S lens will probably be the overall best tool for these kind of shots.

So, I must get one and try it out :)

Hi Kev,

Technically and artistically wonderful!

I looked through my photos, and this is the closest I could find to any stacked images:
Nice stack....don't get many of those to the kilo.

Which stacking program did you use - the Adobe Tits n Ass plugin? :)
