I purchased a Fuji S602 and liked the zoom but it was too big for my taste (never carried it). I want a supercompact or compact camera but was looking for 4-5mp and 4x zoom but alas there isn't anything! Then I read the minolta f100 review and I like the camera. I was turned away from it b/c I thought the Canon S45 was compatible w/ the Microdrive but now I don't think it is. Microdrives need CFII right? What are the smallest cameras that take the Microdrive? I am looking for biggest zoom, biggest picture quality/MP, and smallest camera. I also loved the macro functionality on the Fuji S602. Also it'd be nice to retain some of the Fuji's motion video capability - all the cams seem to offer it but I don't know at what quality/length if they don't take microdrives. The Sony P9 and Minolta F100 and Canon S45 and Olympus C50 or D50 are just what I'm looking for, I just wish they took Microdrive or had better zoom. What is the best camera for me and what are your thoughts? I liked the Minolta b/c it could take NimH batteries but I don't know benefits of each cam that takes such as one takes SD, one takes XD, others are CFI and the Sony is a crappy memory stick...Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

i got an email from CNET saying you could order the G3 but it said it was only 3x Zoom is this true? I thought it was 4. I also like the Nikon 4500 or whatever its called but it is too big and clunky and ugly for me...

You will find that most people here won't answer "should I buy this camera?" or "which camera should I buy?" questions... Replies to these that I have seen (as well as told friends who ask me the same questions) are:

Spend some time looking through this site. Read the reviews, look at the samples, go to the store and hold it in your hands, then make your own decision.

Also, the paragraph or two (you might find a little more elsewhere, but not much) written about the BRAND NEW, NOT YET RELEASED cameras at the show is all the info we have. So, don't even bother asking for opinions on those, either (especially if you need one before the holidays).

Now, a reasonable question like "Does anyone have a XXX, and if so, how do you like it?" will more likely get you an answer.

So, I own an S40 and an E-20. I love them both. I use the E-20 for events and those 'special' shoots, and carry the S40 everywhere. It is small enough, very sturdy and takes GREAT photos, with excellent battery life. Any with a 256 meg card, who needs more then 150+ photos at a time? (if you do, buy two cards)

I would buy it again in a second. Which means I would probably buy the S45 as well (after I read the reviews, looked at the samples, etc...;-)

Hmmm... i don't remember where I saw this, it might even be right here in the Kodak forum, but the LS443 was beaten up pretty bad. I went to look for myself at the pics in the review that was linked, and sure enough, they were right!!! The resolution was absolutely terrible. When you look at the landscape shots, all the trees just blend together. It really as quite sad to see. I guess the colors were nice but there just wasn't any detail there. I have the minolta F100, and if you can put up with the slow start up time, you should be very happy. I'm very unhappy with that one camera taking XD cards. Do we really need another format? I do really hope that these cameras never sell and that format dies a quick death. I think the only competitior to the F100 could be the Canon S45, but it won't be anywhere as cheap.
